Important note:  the Essence flare from using peripheral Essence only lasts as long as the chart says.  It doesn't last until you stop committing, which means your best strategy for long-term commitments (like weapons) is to use Peripheral.

For some reason, when this topic comes up, I always picture a solar putzing around the house in a bathrobe, binding to a big artifact, getting surrounded by a golden halo of awesomeness, then continuing to do mundane crap while still glowing. Like, a twlight reading the paper on the john with bored expression on his face, while surrounded by a glow resembling a huge gerbil or something.
