This could just be one of the many shows you have already witnessed in your town, or is it different?
Anyhow, you are still drawn in by the lights on threads, children's laughter, roaring of tigers and
music of violins, drums and flutes. Women with beards, men with biceps larger than your head,
tiny people on the trapezes, and a lady in a dark tent where you may find out if your future
holds misfortune or riches.
You find yourself under the warm lights, the smell of popcorn and pretzels surrounding you.
Everyone takes a seat, the youngins not being able to keep their mouths shut as they ask their
parents what they may see tonight. Tigers? Elephants? Weird looking people throwing knives
at one another? And as everyone went blind, a hush fell. Someone clears their throat, another
person sniffles. It was taking a little too long.
A light above, shining on a calmly moving swing. A young woman with curled golden locks
stroking her bow against the strings of a golden painted violin. She ignored the distance between
herself and the floor, with no net to catch her if she fell. She playing a beautiful melody as she
swung from one side of the tent to the other.
The instrument slipped from her fingers, crashing to the ground and shattering into pieces.
Your heart stopped for a brief second, holding you breath as you watched the girl still high
up in the sky looking down at her lost possession, until she too, slipped from the small
seat of the swing. You watched in horror as it only took seconds for her to reach the floor,
but it was interrupted by darkness.
There was no sound, but whispering and mumbling began to grow around you. They were
worried. Perhaps this was not part of the act.
"Ssshh..."
"Come now... Why the protest? Do you not want to know how it ends?"
"But every story has its beginning too."
"Let us start there."
"Let us start the show."

The way I want to develop the story is through roleplaying, so you may have your own input in the plot as well!

This is a circus that tells a story. A story of the lost souls that entertain others, no matter how weird they may look, their stories may touch you... But only if you pay close attention. The bearded lady was a slave to a rich family, the weightlifting man was a poor and petite child in the past, the small people were abandoned after birth, the girl on the swing... Well, did you pay any attention at all?
The circus, however, is not a replacement for a home. Although they work and have a roof over their heads, the money goes to the ringleader who only cares about the number of tickets he sells each day. Is he losing money? His performers will have to work harder, to the point of risking their lives and keeping the attention of the audience.
The performers do not like the ringleader, but have no other choice but to listen to him. They have nowhere to go. Like the tigers in their cages, they are trapped.

This story is mainly inspired by the movie The Greatest Showman and from the anime Black Butler; The Book of Circus.
The time setting is somewhere in the 19th century. I refuse to take a modern time setting.
I will mainly take the role of one or two female characters within this circus, while other roles we can either leave open or have them split up.
I'm quite fond of adding fantasy aspects to this story, this includes magic or perhaps inhuman creatures.

- No one-liners
I don't find "I can't count every word" or "I can't determine how long my post actually is" legit excuses. There's Microsoft Word, Grammarly and many more ways to keep track of your post length as well as grammar and spelling. I hope this rule alone is enough to tell you that I like my posts a tad lengthy and in multiple paragraphs. However, I do understand that inspiration can run short from time to time.
- Third person only!
Your character is not you, so don't write like "I went..." "And then I..." etc.
- Communication is key
But unfortunately not many people realize that. If you run out of inspiration, or are bored of the rp, or if you won't be able to continue because of personal reasons, let me know. I don't take kindly to people leaving the rp without letting me know anything. Sending me a message with "I have to quite the rp. I'm sorry, have a nice day." takes less than 3 minutes. Be at least a little respectful to do that rather than having me wait for a message that's never going to come.
- Be patient!
I can't believe I have to add this rule, but I can't stand it when people are too impatient to wait for a response from me. Wait at least a week or so before giving me a poke. The more you push, the less interested I am to continue with you. I've got a life outside roleplaying too and I don't think you would like it if someone kept constantly tugging your sleeve to get you to reply to the rp.
Also, keep in mind that if you see me appear online but I don't reply to your messages, it could very well be that I opened the site on accident or that I am taking a small step back from our thread to get some inspiration back.
If I do get bored of our thread, or if I won't be able to focus on it anymore, I will let you know.
- Put in effort!
I'm not going to carry you. If you don't want to put in a lot effort while plotting something with me then why are you even contacting me? I need you to throw in your own ideas too, suggestions and w/e else.
Don't leave me to ask all the questions or make all the decisions, if I wanted to write a story on my own I would have done so on Wattpad or DeviantART.
Got this far reading my rules? Cool, if you send me a message tell me whether you prefer mozzarella
sticks or croquettes.

This is optional! While I personally prefer a romance story on the side, I know that it's not everyone's cup of tea.
I am fine with m×f and f// for this particular thread should you be interested in a romantic twist.
While nothing NSFW will be happening (at the very least a 'fade to black' scene will be implemented) I'd rather you to be over 18. Sorry, I don't feel comfortable writing romantic stories with anyone younger.
