...the Story Teller
The revolution has come and gone but everyone knows that history repeats itself as humans are creatures of habit and refuse to learn from their past. After Katniss had tried to change everything the world remained the same. Now it is the most special Hunger Games yet. The 100th Hunger Games. This is going to most dangerous games yet and will be a special reward for the victor/victors (Depending on how I feel and how you all play your cards). As from before, only two children ranging from 12 to 18 are made to participate from each district. Because of the wars and revolutions the districts have changed. The closer to the capital the wealthier of course but there is a mild respect between districts for their sacrifices but you know how people are. Now the capital is not a residential city now, it is strictly for the hunger games and only maintained from the select few from the districts, and only if they do not have children. Only the tributes are permitted within the city limits of the capital as the entire city is made to surround the games. There are now only 5 districts, not including the capital.
In these games two children from each district have been selected to fight and die in the games. The victor or victors are given everything their hearts could desire, even going so far as to move their immediate families to any district they desire. There are two tributes selected from each district and volunteers are taken above the lottery pulled names and treated better. It is up to you weather or not you are a volunteer or sacrifice, excited about the games or lament them, favored or looked against.
May the odds be ever in your favor.
The sun hung high in the sky but it was hidden by the grey clouds that fought for room in the air. Below, the five districts were getting ready for the reaping and sacrificing two youths for yet another year of peace. People worked, talked, shopped, traded and fought with one another like any other day. Most adults worried about their children and prayed that they would not be chosen while others hoped that they would hear their child's name to bring honor and wealth to their family. It was yet another grey day and Serenity could not see it. She was stuck inside. Music blaring and moving her body as it always did. This was one thing that she could be thankful for. She loved to dance and it granted her an escape from the world she was trapped in. The strings being plucked rang in her ears and the drums sounded out the rhythm, capturing her heart and letting her forget everything around her and just be like the air, completely free and float around. To the visiting patron her body was lean and firm with great curves. No wonder people would visit and spend their hard earned money to watch her dance. She never opened her eyes as she didn't want to ruin her own dream and return to reality. Her feet were deft upon the floor as she stepped and moved. Her back would bend and her hips would sway as if she were made of water. Her shoulders would bow and flex as she moved her arms to invite people inside and watch. Her long golden hair swaying and trailing as she spun and turned her head. Her fingers would run through those long silky strands once in a while to both brush them out of her face and add to moves and tempt the patrons that entered.
She knew that a specific patron would come in and watch her for a short while, free of charge of course. Her body would be slick with sweat from dancing for so long. She had known him since she was a little child and knew he had a hard life like she had. Granted he may have had it harder but her life was no bed of roses, though on the surface and right now it looked like it. He was a fighter, she a dancer but they both had scars from their past and present. The games were their one chance to change their lives forever. They were the farthest district and they almost never won, however this year would be different. At least, she hoped it would. She wanted to escape. She wanted to be free of her father's tyranny and torture. This year.....this year.....she was going to change her destiny, even if she had to die to do it. When the music finally ended she was able to take a break and step off the stage and get some much needed water. She poured herself pitcher after pitcher of water and drank enough to quell her thirst and forced herself to steady her breathing so she would be able to dance more. Tomorrow was the reaping and this would be the last time she would see this stage. She decided to make the best of it and smile some, even if her body was almost completely on display in her outfit. Her father may have not liked males talking to her but he sure liked them looking at her and paying to look at her.
Jade's day begins rather normally. She wakes up, washes up, brushes her teeth, then her air, does what little make up she needs then puts in her earrings. She gets dressed and starts getting ready to open up the store with her parents. She went downstairs and greeted her mother and father before wiping down the tables and getting ready to open. Things were quite till the evening. Most people would take one look at the pretty young woman and come in just to try and hope to talk to her but she wouldn't speak more than she needed to. She had a soft voice and seemed as delicate as a sakura blossom but she was more like the deadly nightshade berries. Pretty and sweet to look upon but one taste and you'll be dead before you know it. However a familiar face entered her establishment and she knew what he wanted without even having to speak to him. He came in often when he either had a bad or good day. That would be determined when they spoke.
She cleared his usual table and made sure that the dishes were being made by her hands alone. After all, he was one of the few she could consider a friend if she even had one. She got his drink ready and brought it out to his table and set it in front of him, "Your food will be out shortly, sir." she said quietly but clearly. She wore her signature green kimono with blood red trim and decorations to hide her tattoos that marked her as a dangerous and deadly person. Her long, jet black hair shimmered in the candle light as they refused to get florescent lighting in the restaurant. They thought it ruined the atmosphere. After she took care of him she tended to the other patrons in the building so she was not showing him any favoritism. She wondered if anyone she knew would be called in the reaping tomorrow.
