wren is nothing if not passionate. he has been an athlete since he could run and nothing gives him joy like getting stronger. this pursuit easily makes up 90% of his life.
[div class=tag]loyal
well, to his friends. the man has a sketchy reputation when it comes to exclusivity.
[div class=tag]charming-ish
his dazzling smile, broad shoulders, and confident exterior does much of the work for him, despite his generally stoic demeanor. it's amazing how far one can go with sex appeal.
[/div]
[/div][/div]
[div class=tag]possessive
he's relaxed for the most part with his friends. but romantically, he has difficulty seperating 'infatuations' from 'possessions'.
[div class=tag]short-tempered
has very little patience for even minor inconveniences. even less patience for inconvenient people.
[div class=tag]daunting
much of his success in his field involves intimidating his opponent. this comes very naturally to wren and bleeds into his everyday interactions.

wren lost his mother to a car accident at a very young age; too young for him to really understand the depth of something like that. she was the main breadwinner of their household, so once her life insurance money ran out, his relationship with his father became much more strained as the man struggled to keep them both fed and healthy. to keep wren occupied and away from all the bad shit that constantly preyed on the young men in their neighbourhood, wren's father pushed him into sports. boxing quickly became something of a coping mechanism for the boy; or rather, working out was the coping mechanism and the wins that came with boxing were the cherries on top. since his formative years were spent in a gym, his sense of identity very swiftly became reliant on how well he was doing during that particular competition season. this was never a problem considering he never lost.
however, being raised by nobody but his father and his boxing coach means that wren, at his lowest points, is a walking example of toxic masculinity. alpha-male rhetoric and all. the combination of where he grew up, who his father happened to be, and the sport he involved himself also means that he walks like he's about to knock someone out. His lips rest in a scowl and his strong brow is often more than enough to have people jumping out of his way whenever he walks down the street. as well, constantly having to scrape to get by instilled a sense of survival in him that comes out whenever he's in the ring.
a mop of dark brown curls that he'll sometimes straighten.

[div class=tag]+ loyal
elliot is loyal to the end of his days, whether it be to a person, place, or thing. if he's decided that you're worth trusting, he'll practically devote his life to you. he isn't one to betray his friends or family, and will always have his arms open for them.
[div class=tag]+ trustworthy
elliot knows when to not tell a secret, and if he says he's going to do something, there's a high chance he'll do it, with only mild complaints. he knows how it feels to have trust broken, and does his best to not be the same for others.
[div class=tag]+ protective
elliot might not be the strongest person around, but he's protective over the few things he has left. he's often been likened to an angry chihuahua with how he gets sometimes, but he just cares too much about people and the things he has, and wants to protect them with everything he's got.
[/div]
[/div][/div]
[div class=tag]- impatient
elliot has a tendency to want things as soon as he asks for them, and will get mildly irritated if it doesn't happen as quick as he'd like. he's trying to overcome this, because he knows how much it gets on his dad's nerves.
[div class=tag]- cautious
it often takes elliot quite some time to trust others. due to the turmoil he's experienced in his life, it's often hard for him to instantly trust others, even if they do catch his eye immediately.
[div class=tag]- indecisive
it's often incredibly hard for elliot to make a decision on things, and will often leave those decisions until the last minute. it's impossible to pick where to eat with him, but he's trying to get better at just his decision making skills as a whole.

vincent and sasithorn were a happy couple. married when the two were in their early twenties, vincent was still riding the high of his very successful career as a pro boxer, and sasi was a successful real estate agent in the las vegas area. the two never really imagined the white picket fence life, but sasi soon found out she was pregnant, and that life immediately came to fruition. nine months later, elliot was born, and he quickly became the apple of his parents eyes'.
vincent put his career on hold when elliot was born, wanting to help sasi take care of their son, and didn't go back to professional boxing until elliot turned two. elliot's childhood was a happy one, spending most of his time with his mom or in the care of his uncle, anthony. their life was a relatively normal one, but that changed when elliot was seven years old.
sasi had been diagnosed with lung cancer, and was given less than a year to live. this information had been, for the most part, withheld from elliot, unsure why his mom kept going to the hospital and why she kept on looking more and more tired as the days went on. vincent wasn't keen on telling him why that was happening either, and so left elliot in the dark about it until sasi was truly at her worst. in an effort to help her with her pain, her doctor had prescribed her opioids, and sasi slowly but surely became addicted to them. almost six months after her diagnosis, elliot went into her room one evening to tell her that dinner was ready, and was instead greeted to the sight of his mother lying on her bed, dead from a prescription medication overdose.
the screams that filled the o'malley house afterwards would be something that haunted vincent for years. The o'malley household felt cold and empty after the funeral, the life that once filled it completely gone. vincent sunk into a deep depression, and elliot went to live with his aunt and uncle for the time being until vincent was finally able to get back on his feet.
elliot had nightmares for months afterwards about his mom, and when he finally went back to live with his dad, they slowly began to subside. the father and son duo healed together, and vincent retired from boxing to open up his own boxing gym in vegas, training boxers who wanted to be the next big thing. elliot would often be at the gym doing homework or just hanging out, considering his dad was extremely against the thought of elliot even being a boxer.
at age sixteen, elliot came to the conclusion after years of questioning that he was gay, and secretly began to date one of his classmates, a boy by the name of jason henrick. their relationship didn't last very long, just due to the fear elliot had of his dad finding out, and they broke up soon afterwards. at age seventeen, elliot finally came out to his dad through plenty of tears, and vincent accepted his son with open arms. when elliot began attending the university of nevada, located in las vegas, he continued to live with his dad, picking up a job at the gym in order to make some spare change when he's not in classes. he doesn't mind the hours, especially considering the eye candy he gets to witness sometimes at the gym. there's someone who's definitely caught his eye, though...
