The shadows dance in an odd way, which shouldn't be so considering how Caden's lumos spell does not flicker nor shift in intensity like a flame would. It's clear, bright and steadfast like the castor, which leaves only one other reason open: This was an illusion. The shadows that is, Caden highly doubts a spell could make a tunnel feel and look so real.
What bugs him more than the moving shadows was Phyrun, who's voice only seemed amplified in the silence, despite his best attempts to keep things quiet. Secretly, Caden appreciates the small step taken away, giving the blonde more room to himself. The small gesture does not go unnoticed but Caden could never express how grateful he is that Phyrun understands.
Instead of using words, Caden shakes his head at Phyrun's question. With his free hand light grazing the wall, all they could do is walk forward, but as they did, the tunnel walls seem to draw closer and closer, turning narrower by the step. Just as Caden was about to ask Phyrun to turn back, he notices that the ground behind them had disappeared, leaving nothing but a deep abyss.
Well, shit.
Guess there was no turning back either. Instead of fear, Caden feels a touch of annoyance accompanied by a truckload of disappointment and boredom. There was so much more he could be doing with his time right now. He sighed internally to himself, hoping that the afamed "Test of Courage" did not amount to simply walking around in a dark space for an hour.

"I'm trying my best!" Keith had hissed, though really, he had just accidentally jammed his knee into Elliot's mouth, purely unintentional. Who knew standing on a buff Hufflepuff would be harder than it looked? Fortunately, Keith wasn't known as a troublemaker (sometimes even nicknamed monkey) for nothing. Without much hitch, he manages to get up to the trapdoor, pulling Elliot up alongside with him. Hell, if he could scale The Three Broomsticks, he could definitely accomplish this little feat.
Shoving the trap door to a close the moment Elliot was up on the "ceiling" with him, the screeching sound of bats down below (despite most of them turning into black mush) quiet down almost immediately. With a breath of relief, Keith returned the high five, his signature confident smirk etching back onto his face. "I wouldn't have expected any less from the two of us," Keith replied, a hint of smugness in his voice as he got up as well. Checking his surroundings, Keith frowned, seeing that they were almost back in the same location they were before, except this time there was nobody around. Was this the end of the test already?
His brows furrowed. It can't have been that easy, could it? If so, Mcgonagall really was going soft on them...
"Hey, Eli. Hold up real quick. What do you think that is?" Unlike Elliot who wanted to avoid the glowing light, Keith seemed interested in doing the exact opposite, walking towards the light instead. Grabbing his friend's arm, he dragged the Hufflepuff alongside with him, preventing him from taking the right path. As they turned the corner, the light became blinding, forcing their eyes to a close.
When the light dimmed enough for them to reopen their eyes, Keith found they were no longer in a maze but trapped in a pitch black room. Again.
Great. Just great.
He blinked once and rubbed his eyes, wondering if it was a trick of light, but no matter what he did, the darkness remained the same. "Damn," Keith groaned, pulling out his wand to shake out a much needed Lumos spell. Unfortunately no matter what he did, no light would form. Was this some sort of light vacuum they were in?
"Shit, I don't think light is going to reach us here, Eli. Do you think we can turn back or--"
"Who do you think you're touching, Anderson?" said a voice who was definitely not Elliot.
