[div class=tag]appearance.[/div] leo is undoubtedly a son of aphrodite. he doesn't need to put much effort into his appearance, and he's never really had to. with his dishevelled brown hair, a milky complexion, and his startlingly bright eyes that seem to shift like a kaleidoscope between shades of blue, green and brown, leo is naturally quite attractive. and it's not like aphrodite would let any of her children walk around looking like a mess. with leo though, she's never had to interfere. he was always groomed well by his parents, and it became a part of his daily routine. while his hair may often stick out in different directions, it certainly doesn't look bad on him. he he stands tall, at a height of 6'2, with a slightly muscular figure — but not overly so — and he will always be found dressed in clothes from some of the most expensive brands. leo is very much the type of person to freak out if he gets mud on his cashmere sweater, but rather than bitch and whine, he'll whip out his sword.

→ charmspeak ; charmspeak is an ability bestowed only to certain children of aphrodite. it's a rare ability, but leo was blessed with it, and he took advantage of it a lot as a child. with the power of charmspeak, he can literally charm people (or monsters) into doing what he asks of them.​

→ emotion manipulation ; since aphrodite is the goddess of love, as her son, leo has the ability to read the emotions of others and manipulate them slightly, so that they feel something different entirely, whether they understand that it is happening to them or not.​

→ chlorokinesis (limited) ; leo has limited use of this ability. while most users would be able to manipulate plants of all kinds, leo only has control over roses. he can sprout them, and help roses grow, but he is powerless with other plants.​

→ omnipotent allure (limited) ; as a son of the personification of beauty, leo was blessed with natural beauty from birth. he will naturally look attractive, in some way or the other — whether it be a specific feature, or his appearance overall — to those that see him.​

→ bird manipulation (limited) ; leo cannot manipulate all birds, as such, but he does have an inclination toward doves, since it is aphrodite's symbol. he can somewhat communicate with them, easily understanding what they want and also having the ability to 'call' on them.​

→ charmspeak — hearing ; his charmspeak, like every other ability, has its limitations. someone with a strong will could definitely resist what he says if they have practise with doing so, and of course, there's the whole thing about the person needing to actually hear what he says, in order for it to have any kind of effect on a person. someone with bad hearing, or someone in another room, would not react to charmspeak unless there was some way to hear it.​

→ charmspeak — beings ; his charmspeak is pretty limited to humans, demigods and monsters. it doesn't work on animals, except doves since he has a natural inclination toward them.​

→ charmspeak — wears off ; charmspeak doesn't last forever. depending on how much love or strength leo puts into his words, the charm can stay for longer, but otherwise it wears off in a few minutes, and he can't predict if people will find out that they've been forced to do or say something. it doesn't work like hypnosis, so there's a good chance they could realise that leo used his powers on them.​

→ emotion manip. — wears off ; once again, the ability can wear off after some time, if he has manipulated an emotion in the first place, and he can't predict if the person will realise or not, that they've had their emotions played around with.​

→ emotion manip. — mirroring ; often, a side effect of changing someone's emotion is that he momentarily adopts their previous emotional state. so, if he makes an angry person happy, leo can momentarily feel that anger, or rage, or whatever it is that the person was previously feeling, which isn't very pleasant, nor is it healthy. he has a lot of emotional imbalance because of this, and he can't always tell whether the emotions he feels are his own or someone else's, since it's also a highly involuntary ability.​

→ chlorokinesis — source ; as stated above, he can only control roses, and not all plants. he also can only do it if there is soil or a plant source nearby. he can't create roses from thin air.​

→ omnipotent allure — not that omnipotent ; while he may look appealing to most humans, it doesn't work that way with monsters, which means, if he didn't have charmspeak, he couldn't do much more than actual battle to get away from monsters. he also isn't always completely alluring. it could just be certain physical features that seem alluring to people.​

→ bird manipulation — control ; once again, he can't control all birds, just doves, and he can't manipulate them, per se. he can't get them to do his bidding. he can understand them, and he can call on them — and only if they're in the vicinity — and they will feel inclined to help him, but it isn't always the case, and he can't force them.​

→ general — speed ; despite having long limbs, leo isn't all that quick on his feet, nor is he very quiet, which means sneaking around is virtually impossible. he may be graceful when he walks, but he was born to swagger, not run for his life. (well, technically, he was born for both, but he hates running, so.)​

→ general — sore loser ; leo really doesn't like rejection. it drives him to the point of being manipulative to either cause a ruckus so nobody's happy, or to emerge victorious, if it has to do with a competition. he's trying to deal with this side of him, but... well, it's not easy for such an emotional guy.​

[div class=tag]bio.[/div] like most demigods, leo was born from a whirlwind romance. his father was a man from a small town who was working his way to becoming the town's mayor. how he crossed paths with the goddess aphrodite, leo will never learn since he hasn't seen his father since he was a year old, but something obviously brought the two of them together, and from that union, came leo.

around the time leo was born, his father had risen in the ranks and actually become mayor, till he had a baby on his doorstep. an unexplained kid was the last thing he needed, as a mayor, especially since he wasn't married, nor known to be seeing anyone. he didn't even know he was having a kid because he saw aphrodite just that one time — and of course, he didn't know she was a goddess either. just the most beautiful woman he'd ever laid eyes on.

so, leo's father did the logical thing — he gave him up for adoption.

in his defense, he did try to work things out. it took hardly a few months and some nannies who were heavily paid to keep their mouths shut for the man to realise that he couldn't keep up with it.

leo went into foster care in france, and about a year later, he was adopted by two beautiful young ladies. winona marseille was already an established actress in france, while paula marseille's clothing line was slowly becoming a hit. the two of them had wanted a child for a long time, and upon seeing leo, they fell in love instantly.

since then, leo has known nothing but an extravagant life. he's never wanted for anything, and his mothers give him whatever he asks for — though whether that was the charmspeak, or their need to spoil him, we'll never really know.

when leo was thirteen, a satyr found him, having been sent all the way to france from camp half-blood by chiron. leo and his mothers were informed of who his biological mother was, and that he needed proper training before the monsters found him. winona and paula were both skeptical, but in that moment, his mother claimed him, and the hologram of a bright pink dove hovered over his head.

there was no denying it after that. neither winona nor paula wanted to send their son to new york all on his own, so the whole family moved. winona and paula found a lovely place to stay in the fancier part of new york, and winona took the opportunity to dive into hollywood. it meant traveling, but most of her shoots were in new york, so it worked out.

leo began attending camp half-blood during the summers, and he fit in well with the other children of aphrodite — though it admittedly bummed him out to learn that he wasn't the only one, but what did he expect from the goddess of love and beauty?

surprising most other campers, leo thrived with a sword in his hand, but he also did pretty well with the boys and girls of the camp, earning himself a bit of reputation — which he sees as nothing but good.

leo has been in camp for five years now, and he enjoys his life there, as well as the time spent at home. having recently graduated from high school, leo initially decided to get into acting like his mother, but when there was talk of a new camp opening up, leo was happy to volunteer as one of the few older campers to move into new territory, which they would be sharing with demigods from different pantheons.

in all honestly, leo sees this as an opportunity to get to know people and leo can't really survive unless he's surrounded by people.

[div class=tag]appearance.[/div] frankie has always had a very small stature, which isn't something she's complained about in the past. she looks to it as a blessing. why be tall and noticeable when you can be small and sneak around without getting caught? if anything were to give her away, it would be her hair. thick, and curly, if she doesn't tame it with a bun, then hiding behind something can prove to be a task because she could easily be spotted by her voluminous hair. frankie has dark brown eyes, often called 'doe eyes', which work wonders when she has to lead someone on or gain their favour, and she has bronze coloured skin due to her dominican heritage. in terms of clothing, frankie prefers darker colours, and clothes that tend to mimic a grunge style. she'll always be found sporting combat boots, band t shirts that are way too big, and dark flannel shirts. something now deemed her signature — aside from that award winning smile — is the silver nose ring she wears, as well as the choker around her neck that has two snakes and a green gemstone on it.

loki — the norse god of mischief, artifice, magic, fire, serpents and lies.

→ illusion inducement ; with this ability, frankie has the power to cast illusions. she can make people see or think something other than what they are already seeing or thinking. these can be very real illusions that could last for long periods of time depending on how much energy frankie uses to cast these illusions. with this power, she could temporarily subdue a person, or get them to do something she asks of them.​

→ mystiokinesis ; this is essentially reality warping, and acts similarly to illusion inducement. whereas with illusion inducement, she can cloud people's visions with a scene that isn't real but is very believable, with mystiokinesis, it works more like magic, and she can create things that aren't really there, such as holding a knife. should anyone come close enough to touch the knife, their hand would move right through it, since it isn't real.​

→ fire inducement (limited) ; frankie has the ability to manipulate fire, since loki also has power over fire. this means putting out a flame, or causing a flame to grow larger, or burn more intensely, all with just a simple hand gesture.​

→ lies lordship (limited) ; as loki is the god of mischief and lies, frankie has a derivation of this power, in the sense that she is usually able to tell when someone is lying, whether to her or to someone else. it also makes her capable of lying very well, though that could simply be part of her personality, rather than a special ability.​

→ reptile manipulation (limited) ; frankie doesn't have full use of this ability since she cannot control all reptiles, but she does have an inclination toward snakes, since loki's symbol is a snake. she can call on them, and wherever they are, they always seem to find her.​

→ illusions — reality ; as fun as it can be to alter a person's reality, frankie requires a vivid image before transferring it to someone else for them to see. this means she can often get confused between reality and her own illusions, and she sometimes has trouble distinguishing between the two.​

→ illusions — wears off ; as with every ability, the effects of illusion inducement can wear off after a certain period of time, and this period of time varies from person to person. she usually can't control how long an illusion lasts for, since she hasn't mastered that ability yet.​

→ illusions — insanity ; frankie knows, from experience, that if she goes too far with an illusion and shows someone something that hits a little too close to home, it could drive them to insanity, and it's hard to reverse. her illusions stay with people, and since she doesn't really know how far she can go, she can't predict when she's going to mess up, and she could end up harming someone close to her — which she has already done once.​

→ mystiokinesis — limited audience ; warping reality to make people see something that isn't there is a fun little trick, but only if everyone's involved. there's a certain radius to the ability, so people within the near vicinity might see that she's holding a knife, but people far off would see that she's not holding anything, which is the reality. it also doesn't work on so many people at once. the ability is best used with a limited audience.​

→ mystiokinesis — time period ; again, her magic doesn't last very long, and for those who have powers related to magic or mist, it can become easy for them to see through her magic, or at least understand that she's using magic to warp reality.​

→ lies lordship — selective ; while frankie can tell if a person is lying or not, there is no way for her to tell what they are lying about. for example, a person could come up with a story full of lies and different truths, so frankie will know there's a lie in the story, she just won't know which part of it is a lie.​

→ reptile manipulation — control ; despite having an inclination toward serpents, and a positive relationship with them, she cannot force them to do anything. they would feel inclined to help, due to her godly blood, but that's about it. she also can only call on them if they're nearby or in the area.​

→ general — upper body strength ; frankie is quick on her feet and has stellar reflexes, but she lacks upper body strength. sword fighting was never for her because she couldn't properly hold a sword without feeling weighed down, and she could easily be overpowered in a physical fight if her reflexes and speed fail her.​

[div class=tag]bio.[/div] loki, despite being a very charming and manipulative person, was not known to have many demigod children, unlike many other gods from various pantheons. he only ever made two exceptions in his life to fall for a human, and one of those was with frankie's mother esmerelda. she was a con woman, very well known for her dominican pride, and also well known as a powerful woman. it didn't take very long for loki to notice her, because he finally felt like he'd found his match with her.

they had a short fling, since esmerelda was never the type to settle down, so when she realised she was pregnant, she wasn't sure what to do at first. eventually, she came to see it as a good thing. she could raise her son or daughter to take over her empire when they grew up. she became so attached to the idea, that she was hardly bothered about tracking down the baby's birth father.

nine months later, frankie was born, and since her birth, she was always treated with kindness and respect. of course, her mother would give her an occasional dose of tough love, but aside from that, frankie was doted on by all of her mother's colleagues and employees — ahem, followers — and she was given everything she could possibly want.

till she turned six, that is. growing up the way she did opened frankie's eyes to a world of crime and manipulation, which is ideally not something a kid should grow up around. esmerelda was also slowly failing in her business, as other people rose in the ranks and tried to take over. esmerelda always found a way to get back at them, but she was so focused on her business that she forgot she had to be a mother.

because frankie had felt so alone, she often unwillingly used her powers of illusion on her mother, to make her notice her more, and spend more time with her. but so many illusions, which differed from esmerelda's true feelings and wants, confused her. she couldn't remember agreeing to some things, and she felt like she was seeing things and experiencing things that weren't there. all those illusions, cast by frankie without realising it, took a toll on esmerelda and it was slowly driving her crazy. one day, one illusion caused her to snap. esmerelda ended up running out onto the street, confused and wanting to get illusions out of her head, and in seconds, she was hit by a car. she died on impact.

before frankie could be put into foster care, she was visited by her father, loki, who had been watching occasionally, but didn't think it would go this far. frankie clearly needed help controlling her powers, so instead of waiting till she was twelve to claim her, he took her to hotel valhalla to get the training she needed. frankie has been living there ever since. she learned the way of the demigods, she learned how to spar, and she even made a close friend she could trust — a fellow outcast, for being the child of the mischief god. arabella jones was a demigod daughter of loki, five years older than frankie, and she was like the older sister she never had.

frankie felt less alone for the first time in forever, and arabella helped frankie gain better control over her abilities. unfortunately, she too suffered a tragic ending, because frankie and arabella were on a quest when frankie was thirteen, and arabella was killed by a dark elf. after that, fearing that she may do something to harm someone — or herself — odin had a demigod son of thor — someone who had attended hotel valhalla and then got on with his life in the real world — to look out for frankie when she wasn't at her 'camp'. he became her legal guardian, and though they often bicker, he slowly became someone she could try to trust.

with all the death, crime and insanity she's come face to face with, frankie turned into something of a cynic. she has a lot of pent up emotions, and a lot of shit she needs to deal with, but she prefers to push people away and screw with them instead, as if getting people to feel the way she feels is the only way she can deal with her shit.

when the news came out about the joining of camps, frankie was happy to volunteer. new people meant new tricks, and quite frankly, she was sick of the judgement she got in her own camp for being a daughter of loki. she knew it probably wouldn't be any different in this new place, but there was only one way to find out.

pluto was known to have children rather sparingly, and in recent years found the lives of mortals more dull than ever. but driving by a drunk woman stumbling across the street left a pang in his heart. he picked her up, and took her home for the night -- certainly not taking advantage of elizabeth bianchi. but from the small, supposed to be one-off kind act, pluto grew increasingly intrigued and had numerous flings with elizabeth. and then she fell pregnant. pluto ran, but did explain the child "would be unlike any other".

elizabeth had to lie and lie to geoff that it was his child, but geoff knew it certainly wasn't. dominic was born, and soon after followed his younger sister.

dominic was treated differently by who he though was his father for as long as he could remember. where his siblings were allowed to play outside, dominic had something else to do. he was chastised and verbally abused. but his mother seemed to have a particular soft spot for the boy. being the clear favorite in his mother's eyes led to hate from his siblings, who were perfect students. dominic wasn't -- he couldn't focus and would never quite get the best grades.

dominic was twelve when he was staying back after school for sport, and then walked home. the darkness began to creep in, and so did a small group of monsters. they pounced on him and dominic simply ran. he ran and ran until he found himself at lupa's doorstep. lupa defended him, and insisted he returned there when it was summer.

and dominic returned home, telling his mother what happened. elizabeth finally understood, and made an excuse so that dominic could return to lupa and be trained for camp jupiter. there, he quickly adopted the name 'nick', never going by anything else since. nick started rather low in the camp, having no references, but quickly proved himself and ascended to praetor.

[div class=tag]history[/div] kamilah's father was a man obsessed with work. he was an orphan, but knew of his egyptian roots, and grew up always intrigued by his long gone ancestors. eventually, his studies took him to live in cairo, egypt indefinitely, though he tended to ignore other aspects of his life completely -- unhealthily. he was particularly focused on religion and mythology.

serqet was fascinated by him, and enjoyed the light he shone on her culture. she'd never seen someone as dedicated as he was, and eventually she approached him, originally out of pure curiosity. but the goddess, who had fallen in love with a mortal a mere two times, found herself being more drawn to him after every interaction. he was also highly interested in medicine (it would've been his second career choice if being an egyptologist hadn't worked out) which only drew serqet closer.

eventually, she fell pregnant and ran. seth never got an explanation, only a note on his doorstep nine months later, along with a baby girl swaddled in soft blankets. hidden inside the blankets, another note, more detailed. it explained why serqet left, who she truly was and who that made his little girl, whom he named kamilah. though he chose to not tell her about her mother. it was easier that way.

when kamilah turned six, they moved back to america. she struggled to fit in much of the time, and it only grew worse as her powers became uncontrollable. when high-fiving a friend, they'd suddenly feel excruciating pain and proceed to distance themselves from her. it was lonely. and it didn't help that her father never noticed when she returned home in tears or gave her attention. his nose was always too far buried in a book or his studies.

kami had no friends and was closed off from the world.

then, on the night of her ninth birthday, her small apartment she lived in with her father was terrorized by monsters, though instead of attacking the girl directly, they caused a fire. kamilah only woke when the smoke filled her lungs and fire licked her skin, and she had to clamber out her window, with cuts and burns riddling her body. the monsters followed, so she never had the chance to look back.

after a few nights on the streets, kamilah noticed the cats surrounding her, and the lack of monsters. she followed them, until she arrived at new nile, and remained there for two years, learning to control her powers and feeling normal. and then her father arrived at the doorstep of the camp. kamilah didn't want to return with him, but she did -- and the dynamic never fixed itself. kamilah only felt at home when at new nile.

so the option of attending camp calor? it was a difficult one to accept, but hestia's promise that it would create a home for all demigods was something kamilah could agree to try and create.
