Bailey is a fairly attractive young woman, at least by her own judgement. Leaning towards the tall side and filled out. She is of healthy weight, with most of it being muscle, though she had no problem gaining a little extra pudge for the winter in case her stores didn't last. She has no reason to dress to impress. She will dress for comfort and practicality. Her looks aren't really something she finds important, living in this world alone. Being winter, she has taken to fur lined clothing, a far cry from stripping to her skivvies or less in the dead of summer.. Her most noticable feature being her prominent red wavy hair, followed by her blue eyes.
PERSONALITY:

Bailey is very focused on surviving. A pragmatist by heart. She likes to stay busy, scouring the city for food and other things she can horde. However being so long without social interaction, it is hard to express what she is like. But when the time comes, people will find her harsh and distrusting, perhaps even cynical. She is not one to just trust the first people she meets, nor will she have any delusion of wanting to throw her life away for them. To be frank, her life will matter more to her than theirs. This said, she is not blind to the advantages of cooperation, nor is she the owner of a frozen heart. Just do not expect kindness and generosity to come easy from her, especially if it means she has to sacrifice something.

Bailey is an intelligent woman, and will pick apart and criticize situations and people without much care of their feelings. She does not like to be weak, and doesn't like to be the victim, and as such she can act quite ruthlessly and aggressive. Furthermore, befitting of the color of her hair, she can be something of a firebrand. Seeing her temper isn't uncommon, but it normally justified, such as when someone or something is being an idiot. Yet with a bit of logic she can be calmed back down. Bailey isn't unreasonable by any means. This all aside, there is a passionate side to her, not something easy to access but something that is there nonetheless.

HISTORY:

Her life before the apocalypse doesn't really matter. Not in the least. By the time she was born, things were already going downhill for humanity. And only shortly thereafter, before any reliable memories, the World War hit its climax, and the human race began to die out from there. She was raised by her father, who was a soldier, back when it mattered. Yet as the population fell dramatically, things such as nations and armies just didn't matter anymore. To this father, his daughter did. Even as humanity died without them, he fought hard to see that she still had a future. He taught her how to survive. How to fire a gun and how to hunt. How to break into buildings and other things that would help her in world.

When she was six, his father met woman, once a scientist and doctor before the war. It was nice to see a friendly face in a panicked and dying world, so they traveled together. This woman became Bailey's acting mother, and helped her father in raising and teaching her. They traveled from place to place in Europe, just surviving and looking for survivors, only loneliness and death did they find. At least they had each other through those years. That is, before the disease finally took their lives four years ago. They had mad it across the sea to Ireland, when it happened. It was a sad day for Bailey, but it was one she was expecting and one they had prepared her for. There were tears, yes, but she moved on as they taught her to do. Though she never left Ireland, she never any reason to. It was good a place as any to live.

Now twenty, she has become quite adept at surviving. There isn't really any struggle. Every now and then, animals become a nuisance, or the wild dogs become brave, or the rats find a new way into her shelter. The cold and heat are always a problem, but there is never a lack of ways to warm herself up. Fuel is easy enough to come across. Animals liberally walk the overgrown streets of Dublin, and even then, coming across non perishable foods isn't a rare occurrence. The city is a scavengers treasure trove for those who know how to look and make the most of things. Her biggest enemy, perhaps, is boredom. Her mother always did warn her the mental and emotional dangers of prolonged isolation. Well that is nothing a few golf balls from a tall building, or her tomagatchi pet, or even an RPG launcher can't fix. However, in a world that is so dead, she will find away to keep it lively. For her sanity's sake.

DESCRIPTION:

Robin is a woman of healthy and quite average proportions. She stands at 5'6", with a slim-ish build and frame, which, unfortunately hasn't aided her much in the past years of survival. But she has gained a substantial amount of muscle - just enough so she can survive, though. Her naturally curly blonde hair is more often than not worn in a ponytail, with her fringe and wispy hair bits pinned back with the clip she was given from her mother.

Often, her stormy grey are soft, and caring, but in stressful situations, or ones of survival, they are piercing, and constantly moving around the environment scanning for anything important. And, unlike probably most survivors, she tries her best to keep herself looking at least respectable.
PERSONALITY:

Robin is quite a proper lady, carrying herself with a sense of dignity, but not too much to seem full of herself, or too prideful. She has a sense of confidence in herself as well as a soft, caring smile around people, which makes her seem approachable and caring. Which is completely true. She is an altruistic soul, always ready to put herself on the line, for the benefit and well-being for others, and finds joy in doing so. Her methods of communicating is quite proper and formal, to almost anyone, friend or stranger; which can be irritating to some. Despite that, she is a quiet person majority of the time, not sharing her opinions too often but listens to other's problems, or observing things around her, and in turn, is quite a good listener and empathetic, knowing many situations and problems, and good at helping people with them. This has also caused her to be gentle and caring, no matter what, as she understands that you don't always know what people are going through. She is especially kind towards those who are more quiet or shy.

She is quite intellectually gifted, in addition with her curious nature, she has gained a large knowledge of a wide variety of things. And she tries to rationalize and understand the world or people around her, which is something she finds easy majority of the time, depending on what or who it is she is attempting to understand. But, this curiosity can sometimes get the better of her, and she can get a little too into asking questions or trying to figure people out, or help them when they clearly don't want it. Simply, she can been nosy at times, and over worried about other people. Rarely, this can turn into micro-management, but Robin has learnt how to reign herself back from doing it most of the time.

Though there aren't very many people to share her very people orientated personality with. This has meant that what made Robin, well, Robin, is somewhat buried inside of her. She has more just focused on analyzing the nature around her, and using it to her advantage. She's more quiet than ever before, but is very gentile and caring if she comes across any other survivors.

HISTORY:

Robin was born into a dysfunctional family from the start. Her mother and father were hardly on good terms, and she doesn't even remember her dad as he left before her memory can recall. Her mother had always insisted he was a good man, just afraid. But Robin had a tough time believing it, especially once she got to know her mother as a bit of a liar. Nonetheless, five years later, Robin's sister was born, whom she later discovered was only her half-sister, a concept she couldn't exactly grasp at her young age. It didn't matter whether Robin and Eleanor (her sister) didn't share the exact same blood, as they were practically inseparable, playing with each other and loving each other with the generic love you expect in sisters.

Due to her mother, Penelope, being out most hours of the day working, attempting to earn enough money to feed her family, Robin had learnt how to take care of herself quite quickly, and transferred that knowledge into virtually raising her sister. This also made Robin mature much quicker than the normal child. It also didn't help too much that their mother was only working as a nurse, which definitely wasn't the highest paying job she could get, but was dedicated to her nursing nonetheless.

Whilst Penelope was worried for her children, she was never paranoid, until the war began. She saw all the injuries and causalities caused from it, and grew more and more cautious with the more lifeless or dis-formed bodies she saw. She pushed her scarring and mental health to the side, even though it was growing more and more prevalent in her head, she focused on teaching both of her kids as much first-aid and medical knowledge as she could in between her long hours. All she had to know is that her kids would be safe.

Some nights when Penelope would come home late, she would cry, and sometimes, but rarely, drink quite a lot of alcohol. Fearing for her mother's safety, she took a peek in the book she hid under her pillow. Depression. Is what it said often. She went to the library that her sister and herself went to a bunch to actually do things, and discovered what depression was, and that it was something to do with someone's head.

Once Robin had figured out what was worrying and scarring her mother, she vowed to become a psychologist, so that she could help people, and make sure that no one would have to go through what her mother did. Thus, she did her best to study and learn about the human brain, so she could easily get into a university or college. Although, for her age, it wasn't as if she could learn too much, yet she certainly increased her knowledge massively and became quite good at being an un-qualified psychologist.

But it wouldn't do much for her if there were no universities or colleges to attend, or no one to supervise and care for. Which is exactly what began to happen. People she loved died around her as she just watched, helpless for no one but herself. Robin helped her sister build an attempt to build an immunity, but she passed not long after their mother had.

Robin eventually lost everyone. She didn't see much point, after all, everyone was almost certainly dead. So she simply scavenged and built up a base camp with enough stock to last her countless years. Yet she continued to collect materials and build up her base along with making it more complex. It wasn't as if she had much better to do, except read as many psychology books as she could get her hands on, and practice first-aid techniques she was taught by her mother in order to remember her.

There is rarely a time that fiery determination doesn't light up Peyton's dark eyes, glowing out under her shaggy bangs at regular intervals. Her hair has a bit of an uneven cut thanks to her habit of taking her dagger to it nowadays. She keeps her bangs long enough to curtain over her eyes, though usually she as a two way part so that she can see out from underneath it. The back she always keeps in a tiny braid and no, you may not cut it off... unless you have a death wish. Her clothing - the wrap around her chest, her worn out shawl, and her pants - allow for a great range of movements. Thanks to that she has little trouble climbing, rolling, and running, as well as fighting. And the warm, neutral colors allow her to blend in without too much trouble when she's in the shadows, allowing her to jump out and surprise people. Though... there aren't really people to surprise anymore.
PERSONALITY:

Personality - Older Brothers + Determination = Spirited Prankster

Peyton loves riddles, jokes, and puzzles. Anything that makes her mind whir.... her brothers and father would often throw random puzzles or would look up riddles to challenge her with. And though Peyton loves laughter, she tends to prefer her and her brothers above anyone else, having had wonderful times ganging up with them to prank other, 'innocent' people. She and her brothers made quite the team, causing mayhem and panic wherever they were allowed to roam- and would often get their father into trouble.

A tough, almost unbreakable determination held Peyton through a lot when her brothers were around her... but as she began to lose them, the loss broke that down. She went from being strong because of her love for her family, to calloused because of her survival instincts. Even nearing the end, when she had her two youngest brothers, Peyton was still laughing and having fun... but after she buried the last of her brothers, that laughter left her. She's become a reckless and harsh individual, doing just about anything to find someone else to talk to... something to make this life less of a hell to live.

In a House full of Men

Peyton has had as interesting a life as anyone else. She had several years of a decent life before the world went to hell... in fact for a rather long while all she had to worry about was learning her school lessons, and spending time with her older brothers and her father. Of course, those older brothers were all half brothers- from different women her father had been with at different points in time. Who those woman were, Peyton doesn't know. She doesn't even know her own mother; growing up in a family of men for the most part. That toughened her up, and made her develop a love of pranks and tricks since that was the only way she could ever get her brothers. She was best at baiting traps and disappearing into the forest, before making her brothers fall for whatever layout she had setup for them- catching them in bear traps, in pit falls, and many other things. For that reason she was grateful to have grown up on the edge of the world, often hunting for her own food with her folks and selling the furs to make a living. Her family was actually fairly resilient to the world falling apart. In fact Peyton didn't even realize what was going on for a long time, until one of her beloved brothers got really sick. A couple of her other brothers went into town to pick up medicine for him, their father going with them... they didn't come back. Her third brother didn't last much longer, and she and her last two brothers buried him in the yard, under the great maple tree.

Going out to find out what happened to her father and two oldest brothers with her two youngest brothers, still a couple years older than her, at her side, she found the state of the world to be in complete chaos. People were dying left and right, either from sickness or from a brutal act from someone else. She lost one of her brothers to a random attack on her little party, and her last brother also ended up falling ill. Peyton was quick to stock up on everything she could think she might need before heading back to her home in the forest, on the outskirts of town. She was well and truly alone, and she remained that way until she was out of food. Her traps weren't gaining her anything so she forced herself to brave another trip into town; and found everyone to be dead now. There wasn't a sound beyond the whistle of the wind through the dark buildings. It was eerie, and it was lonely, and to try and make up for this sudden solitude Peyton played. She snagged skateboards in malls and road them around the buildings, snagging up random clothing to make random, tacky outfits. She pretended to be a lone survivor in a zombie apocalypse, collecting ammo for her Magnum and shooting down mannequins, shouting at how they wouldn't eat her brains. This grew rather old, rather fast, though, and Peyton began to wander aimlessly from town to town, seeking out anyone else who may have survived. Her spirit was beginning to die without anyone around to prank or play with. If she didn't find a partner in crime, soon, Peyton began to fear insanity might set in...

DESCRIPTION: Johnny is solidly built. He manages to stay in decent shape from wandering around trying to survive, though he is extremely skinny for his height. He has wide, thick shoulders that show if he ate every day he'd be much bigger looking guy. He has dark brown hair that seems to find a way to never be combed, and is usually matted down with sweat against his forehead. He is usually wearing a baseball cap for the Texas Rangers. Nowadays, Johnny usually wears heavy jeans with a cut up white t-shirt underneath, and a thick leather jacket that has his name stitched into it.
PERSONALITY:

Johnny is a joker and tries to be an entertainer. Before his group became just him, Johnny was usually the guy finding something to smile about, or at least trying to make everyone else smile in the darker times. While he recognizes the world is ending, he tries to remain optimistic, even if thats a bit naive. He loves to play practical jokes, and is currently trying to come up with jokes on his own, so that when he finds civilization again, they'll take him on as their resident comedian.

Johnny also loves to tinker with things, have a knack to fix broken machines and what not. He figures if his aspiring career to be a comedian falls through, that maybe a settlement will take him on because he is pretty good with fixing things up. He is out going when meeting strangers, and believes everyone has goodness in them, even though he has seen the evil in a desperate person. He tries his hardest not to say something that will make someone upset, instead opting to lie, or change the subject to keep the happiness up.

HISTORY:

Johnny had a good childhood, up until the war. The son of a widowed mechanic, Johnny can remember spending hours at his Dad's shop, learning how to fix cars, and a whole assortment of other things his father could get his hands on. Johnny grew up playing baseball, and loved watching the Texas Rangers at night with his father. For Johnny, when he was growing up, the sounds of war were as far away as they could be.

When the war hit home, and the bio-weapons were released, Johnny and his father traveled together. Johnny's father tried his hardest to shield him from the horrors of the new world, and did a pretty solid job of it. When Johnny and his father came across the gang of bikers, they proved their worth by fixing up the bikes, and soon found themselves in a roaming gang. The bikers were surprisingly organized, but they'd also become ruthless taking what they needed without question. This didn't settle well with Johnny's dad, but at this point keeping Johnny alive was all that mattered.

Johnny's father was killed, when Johnny was 16, by the gang's leader. He'd spoken up against the gangs activity and paid the price. Johnny was able to escape by the skin of his teeth, stealing a motorcycle and riding into Dallas. The gang hunted after him for a few days, but the vast landscape of the city let Johnny slip away with ease. For nearly the last decade, Johnny has been moving all over the city. He has most of the Dallas Metroplex explored, and since he hasn't seen anyone in a few months, he feels relatively safe, but also feels a little crazy because he's started to talk to himself. He missed people.

Adrian gives off a feel of cold tranquility, both soothing and distant. While his movement is relaxed, there is a certain alertness to it, as if he is anticipating attack anytime. His expression is often calm and friendly, although from time to time, his eyes tell a different tale with their sharp gaze. His blond hair is uneven in length, courtesy of being cut by a knife every time it grows long. Now it has grown long again, but isn't long enough to be tied back. The clothes he wears in his journey depends on the climates, but he is usually seen with a long light brown coat.
PERSONALITY:

A princely young man, one might said. Along with his polite and thoughtful demeanor, he possesses a quiet, refined charm that drawn people in. Often seen with a gentle smile on his face, welcoming impression for a stranger. Usually amiable to new people because after all, there's no reason for burning the bridge that might be useful.

Despite the first welcoming impression, open book certainly isn't the right term to describe him. He often speaks in layers, and one really need to be good in reading between the lines to get what he actually means. His gentle smile is pretty much his poker face, for it's always masking his current thought.

He often find a way to turn a situation in his favor, sometimes in the expense of others. True believer of turning one's weakness into strength (or vice versa). Overall is very calculating in his movement, but he found himself more willing to take a risk and rely on pure instinct when he wasn't in charge of other people.

He assess people quickly, and in his mind what he found is what you really are. If he saw potential, then you are gold. If not, you belong in trash. Harsh in his judgment, second chance with him is a truly rare occurrence. He could change his mind, but one need a lot of convincing and ironclad proof to do that.

Adrian doesn't remember much about his childhood, but one memory always stands clear to him. A memory of the first open declaration of war, broadcasted for the world to see. At that time he didn't understand any word being said. The only thing he noticed was his father on the television, speaking with a grave but determined tone. But for some reason, his mother's hold on him tightened, and he remembers her whisper.

"It's for the best."

Eight years later, society crumbled. Anarchy everywhere, kindled by war and spread by society instability, before mitigated by its instrument, the bio-weapon. Not even a bunker could stop the after effect of the bomb. Slowly, everyone around them fell to the disease. Their parents also died, but not of disease despite what he always let people assume. It's an assassination, done out of revenge or a sliver of hope that killing the figurehead would stop the chaos. But it didn't.

One of the people who survived the attack was a combat medic. As his last comrade fell, he saw no more reason to stay in the bunker now that it had been breached and with everyone died. Except for the four children of his former superior. He ended up taking Adrian and his siblings with him, either out of pity or duty. Whatever the reason is, he protected them and taught them the way of survival in this war-torn world, and that's what matter.

To Adrian, he told him three things. You are the oldest, protect your siblings-they're one of the few you can trust. If you don't know whether you can trust a person, don't trust them at all. Never talk about your previous home.

People reacted differently to the disease. Some died on the spot. Some were immune to it. Some built resistance- until their immune system weakened and the disease sprung back at full force. Unfortunately, the youngest siblings were the latter. In the harsh climate, the twins didn't last long, and they ended up burying them between the trees they always liked to play around before.

The medic knew with the state of the world, there's no truly safe place, but there's always a safer place. So using the information from his radio- back when they're still functional- and other methods of gaining information, they constantly moved around. To the less populated place. To the currently least war-focused place. Until one day his feet brought him to the wrong place, and an explosion took his life. The children weren't with him that time since he went there first to check whether the place was really safe. The fact that he never came back was enough of the answer.

Now there's only Adrian and his sister left. Time passed, and they keep moving. Sometimes they're following the map as a guide to the next safe place, and sometimes they used stars for direction when compass was malfunctioning. The sky above them was sometimes clouded by dust and smokes, but sometimes it's stark clear, seemingly unchanging despite whatever happened below it. One day, as they were debating which direction to go next, his sister, always the one with a knack for direction, looked up at the clear sky and said.

"North. Trust me, north is the safest choice!"

It's turned out they were right in choosing the north, for the next bomb were dropped in the south. But fate was cruel in distributing its luck. Both of them survived the bomb, but it's to the disease his sister finally fell. The most spirited of both, now withered away in a matter of days. But she told him to go on, go on no matter what happened. Go on and perhaps, find other people like him. The other who survive. The one he could trust.

So he goes on. Whether to find people like him, or simply to survive. The universe will show him a way.

Lydia carries herself with the utmost ease and relaxing stance. Her short stature is made up by the personality in her look. If she were to describe herself, she would say that she looks much like an odd teenage rocker. With a rings strategically placed in her earlobes to seem like piercings, tattoos drawn with a permanent marker on her neck and spine, aviator goggles which she doesn't seem to use, and a somewhat revealing outfit to accommodate the hot weather in Australia, she is definitely dressing for her own comfort and identity.

Her skin is tanned and it can sometimes be dehydrated, calloused. Her face especially has a reddish color to it, which matches the dull hue of her hair, always kept in a neat braid. Her eyes are a dark brown.
PERSONALITY:

Back when a personality mattered, Lydia was a confident young woman with a politely haughty disposition. She is playfully witty and often makes clever comments no matter the situation, influenced by her stepfather to help lighten up their sometimes hopeless situations to have some good ol' fun. She can be annoyingly sarcastic, usually when she's complaining, and even more so if she is partnered up with someone as equally as sarcastic. But, her sense of humour can appear insensitive.

Lydia is stubborn when faced with unreasonable or killjoy authority, and can be brash due to her confidence in her abilities. Compared to her stepfather, she was much more superior in terms of usefulness and everyday skills thus came the warm praises, friendly competition and her display of laughable bragging. She possesses a curious attitude, and constantly bombards people with questions, either with an intention to annoy them with pointless inquiries or just asking from her overwhelming interest in a subject.

However, since the downfall of humanity, she became much more independent and responsible, though bitter and emotionally aggressive. She had grown to be selfish and with lack of humans around has made her a bit unsociable from when she once was. She is more likely to ignore strangers and her demeanour turns quieter and quieter everyday. Clover's death didn't make it any better.

Lydia was born on the year 2016, just before the peak of the war. Her father died in the battlefield and she was nurtured as an only child. Despite the grief, her mother, Melody raised her well, farming their food, and teaching her safe berries to pick in the wild. Melody and Lydia stayed contently that way until the war got more aggressive. They tried moving. They tried leaving. But they were stuck there.

Her mother remarried for her sake. The groom was an ex-soldier who taught her everything she needed to know to survive as well as sharing his playful wit. They became close, and even more so when her mother unfortunately died from the disease while the war ended when she turned six. As father and daughter grieved, they fled to the city and tried to live away from the rest of humanity to avoid contracting the sickness.

And they did so for ten years, bonding, learning, enduring hard times and good ones until Anthony too fell from the disease. She buried him with the words he always wanted carved into his grave, left the city in her misery and fend for herself from then on. Her interaction with other human beings ceased to exist and she made imaginary conversations with her dead stepfather to keep herself sane.

Eventually, she found someone else. An immune survivor. Clover Hayes, aka Squirrel.

Clover was doing very poorly in terms of surviving but she looked enthusiastic, real and very human, so Lydia helped. They gradually became more than friends, more than companions. Clover, though very odd, often lifted up her spirits and she was the one who gave her the mouse tattoo in the name of their resident pet, Mouse, the mouse. However, ever since she began living with her, Lydia held her hunger one too many times. Clover loved to eat, and snacks don't last a day from when it was discovered. They almost starved once.

Lydia got desperate. She got frustrated. Lydia was rash in that moment.

And what happened next was a gunshot, blood and regret. She killed Clover. Mouse was all she had left. And now at twenty, she still couldn't forgive herself.

Anja is neither exceptionally hideous nor beautiful. When the world still had a robust population and she was 'enjoying' puberty, she knew she paled in comparison to the refined features of her classmates. The angles of her face are pleasant enough but have lost the roundness they once held due to a combination of age, duress, poor skin care, and a less than stellar diet as the decline of humanity meant less food options. By no means is she sickly, but she has lost the glow of her youth. Anja's eyes are a piercing pale brown edging on amber and her hair is a thick, dark brown mane to her waist. She used to wear her hair shorter but with no hair stylists in sight she has adapted to wearing it long and cutting it with scissors once it reaches farther down her torso. It's understandably uneven at the ends but practice has made it less noticeable.

Anja was far from athletic before the apocalypse. Her small body frame made her a poor fit for most sports but she has been forced to make do in the impossible circumstances of her current life. She spends a considerable amount of time outdoors and had endurance for walking long distances. As she's more of a "flight" than "fight" individual she has also learned to move very quickly for increasingly a increasingly longer duration. Her upper arm is still severely lacking, however, and she compensates as best she can with the muscle in her legs.

Fashionable clothing is scarce, so Anja dresses for practicality- exclusively. At any given time she dons the remnants of what were once quite nice pieces. If someone had to label her choices it would be "hobo chic" (as a poor diet has meant nice things for her waistline at least).
PERSONALITY:

Anja is an inherently sociable individual; she craves the intimacy of close friendships and relationships. When the world began to fracture and dissolve before her eyes, she mourned the loss of people more than most. She is incredibly empathetic and enjoys listening to others but has found less and less opportunity to do so. As the planet became more sparse she withdrew into herself and became a hermit. By her own rationale it was easier to isolate herself than suffer as she witnessed what few others were left perished one by one. Her home, an abandoned cabin on the east coast, is filled with memoirs of people. Anja both desperately wants to remember them and honor their lives but she is also tormented by doing so. Given the chance to interact with another human being this "waffling" is incredibly apparent- she shows great interest and compassion in whatever they have to say or need, but she is also afraid of the attachments that she forms. This has culminated in a sarcastic, cynical sense of humor.

As time has gone on Anja has become more and more despondent at the future. Part of her wishes she could simply give up, and she finds herself quite depressed about the situation (how could you not?) but she is a romantic at the same time. She has great hopes for the future and as such she perseveres as best she can. One of her best developed coping mechanisms is that she has befriended a great deal of the wildlife around her. She has taken in an alarming number of feral dogs descended from what were once pets and tamed them to a certain extent. Anja will attempt to nurse creatures she finds back to health if possible, tending to their wounds to the best of her ability, and if they perish under her care she digs a grave for them approximately half a mile away from her home.

HISTORY:

Anja was born in Germany to parents with a proud Bavarian heritage but moved to the United States when she was two for job opportunities. Her father was a loud, large man who was just as happy debating an engineering plan with his colleagues as he was playing the role of a prince for Anja's dress up dates. Her mother was more reclusive but acted as a good balance for her husband. They were a happy family that grew when Anja was four years old; she first had a little brother and then a little sister.

She was a boisterous, energetic, and surprisingly popular child growing up. Other girls liked her because she was supportive and flattering of their egos by nature but not pretty enough to steal the attention of their crushes. Boys often befriended her as she not only gave them hints as how to win the affection of her friends, but she was an eager volunteer to help as well. It was hard not to like Anja. For years she was oblivious to the decline of the world around her. It was as if she existed in a bubble of childhood that could not be punctured with the brittle edges of reality.

When the war started she was distraught even before she experienced loss personally. Anja could not understand how anyone could or would wish such harm on one another. Her naivety was pulled off of her in layers and slowly her friends disappeared. Some moved away, some went into hiding, and some of the older teenagers were sent to war. She clung desperately to everyone, sending messages in volume and with urgency. As they died she became more and more jaded, but persisted in sending her messages. Anja hoped the last thing that her friends heard or read were kind ones.

When she was 15 the bio-weapon that begun the apocalyptic disease was launched. Her mother, who Anja inherited her more frail build from, was the first to fall ill. After her death Anja became a motherly figure for her younger brother and sister and she watched her father become a full-blown alcoholic. After her youngest sister died her father apart. When her younger brother died her father committed suicide; he had already fallen ill and did not want his remaining child to see him waste away.

Anja traveled for years, scavenging what she could from the cities on the east coast that had been left barren before she settled into a cabin tucked away in a forest in Virginia. In the wilderness she finds she does not face as constant a reminder of her solitude on this earth. At least twice a week she journeys into a new building in the nearest sign of civilization and combs through the debris for basic necessities and memorabilia to collect. One bedroom in her cabin is devoted to the many, many lives lost: pictures cover the wall and ceiling, with jewelry suspended by tacks. In the center are boxes with more poignant reminders of history including a few pieces of artwork, journals, and medals that used to have some relevance.

Lie has a medium built, with an average amount of muscle mass from all the constant walking and running.

She's often wearing more unissex, comfortable clothes as her line of work require her to be ready to any circumstance: T-shirts, knee-long shorts, long socks and shoes made specially for lots of walking. Her long Butterscotch blonde hair is often tied up in a ponytail as well.
PERSONALITY:

Ophelie Portier is a selfless, helpful person. Inspired by her parents, all she wishes for is the safety of others and she'll even risk herself to accomplish it. She'll also offer help in anyway she can, be it working alongside someone or using her medicine skills, she's always ready to act. She's a kind girl who despite looking so young is actually very used to being in extreme situations, such as war zones.

Lie is also a very stubborn person who prefers talking before violence. Once she puts something in her mind it's hard to make her change idea or give up on the task, which often puts the girl in trouble. Her habit of trying to talk things out as much as possible, or wait until being attacked first, to then defend herself, is also quite problematic. She won't harm neither animal nor person until given a fair reason to do so.

HISTORY:

The Portiers had always been a family of renowned doctors. The last generation however had wished to do more for the needy. Gilen and Naeva Portier had made their name a sign of hope. Known for their altruism and strong will to help more than anything during conflicts, the Portiers often fled to the battlefields to treat both sides equally and without allegiance to either side.

Their daughter, Ophelie Portier was born and raised in Paris and was often left in the care of other family members while her parents went to far away places to do their jobs. She admired her parents, what was there not to admire? They were like heroes! Even though they knew how dangerous what they did was, they still entered the conflicts with their best intentions in mind. They put others lives before their own! It made Ophelie want to help someone too, she would be just like her parents when she grew up!

Destiny didn't let her have all that time to decide, though.

When Ophelie was 10, her parents were working in the middle East, doing what they usually did and helping both sides of the conflict but this time it wasn't seen as good will, but betrayal. 'How come these French doctors come and help us, but also the enemy?'. The decision one of the armies took was to destroy the medicine tent, and that they did. When the bombing alarm resounded through the air, the Portiers grabbed their patients and ran as fast as they could, making sure no one was left behind, but after the impact, several constructions came crashing down and took half of the group with them. One of the casualties was Naeva Portier.

After retuning to France, Gilen Portier wanted to give up. It didn't matter the good he had brought, they had been attacked by those he helped and he had lost both his partner and wife. There was no way he could go on without her. For a while, he tried being solely a dad, but he missed his job, he missed helping those in need.

Little Ophelia had taken notice that her father wasn't as cheerful as he usually was, so she approached him and the words she said surprised him: "Please, don't give up dad! I know losing mommy is sad but if you really need help, I'll help you! I'll learn everything right, I promise! So please, don't look sad anymore..."

Of course he asked her to reconsider, but the girl was too stubborn, just like her mother, so he proceeded to teach her some basic things, medical terms and also self defence. Some time later, he took the girl on her first assignment trip and, even though the view of the battlefield had certainly affected her, she managed to stay strong and help alongside him.

From there on, father and daughter worked together to tend to the wounded all across the globe, and everything was going fine until the World War III broke.

The Portiers weren't anywhere near the actual explosions, but the radiation sickness that spread through the air affected Ophelie's father really quick. Ophelie didn't even wonder why she wasn't being affected like he was, she just wanted to help her dad in anyway she could think of. Gilen Portier recognized the radiation poisoning and simply prayed for his daughters survival after giving her all his tools: "You were always so strong Ophelie, I'm so proud of you...Please, don't give up when I'm gone okay?", the girl just cried while nodding.

After her dad passed away, Ophelie started adventuring by herself. She didn't like the thought of appropriating herself of others' things but she had promised her dad to not give up and she wasn't going to. From a knife and a stick, she made a spear, that way she could defend herself from wild animals and at the same time she was in a lookout for any other survivors. There weren't any.

Ophelie started her trip in Pakistan and has arrived in India about a week ago. And thus, the story continues...

Dakota has a very striking appearance - her eyes are an incredible light blue, making her look almost blind. She is lightly freckled, primarily on the nose, and with long, wavy black hair. Due to the world kind of being a bunch of nothing, Dakota doesn't put much time into her appearance, so she always looks sort of shabby and unkempt. She often wears a scarf, jacket, and jeans, along with a brown satchel bag where she keeps her belongings.
PERSONALITY:

Bubbly, friendly, and perhaps a bit ditzy, Dakota could very well be considered a child trapped in an (almost) adult's body. Brutally honest in the kindest of ways, Dakota does not quite know the meaning of many things, for starters, personal space, the correct time to "leave things alone", and emotional sensitivity. Death is a considerably light subject for her, since it is such a common occurrence in her life.

Dakota could be described as exuberant, her actions jerky and sudden but no less happy and optomistic. While many may have darker outlooks on the barren life they have been living for quite some time, Dakota always seems to somehow keep a positive attitude on any situation, and is quite clever in some unexpected ways, suggesting the most off-the-wall but strangely brilliant ideas in times of need, and thinking quickly in the heat of a battle.

Dakota is a social person, and the end of the world has of course left her rather lonely, like many others. She is not very good at understanding her own emotions, including her own sadness, and while she thinks she believes she is doing just fine, Dakota is rather miserable in her current situation, as well as the denial of her parents and friend's death, and longs for a change she prays will come. Luckily for her, her prayers have been answered.

HISTORY:

Dakota Georgia Whitten was born just a little while after the war had begun. If it had been up to her parents, they wouldn't have had children, but unfortunately, the war had already started by the time her mother was pregnant. Thus, Dakota never knew a world without chaos, and she and her parents moved around constantly. By the time Dakota was just three years old, they had settled down in over four different states in an attempt to keep safe, when in reality no one was truly safe.

When Dakota was nine, her father was killed in an attack on Montana. After his death, her mother went a little bit mad in the head. She was constantly muttering things to herself, hands shaking when it wasn't even cold. She was sickly and paranoid, and Dakota knew not how to help her. She was forced to watch her mother deteriorate bit by bit, but all the same her childish mind protected her from truly understanding what had gone wrong.

This was before the disease had even spread -- when it did, her mother was killed rather quickly. By the time Dakota was fourteen years old, she was an orphan.

Life was harsh. She was malnourished, cold, and lonely for a long time. It's a wonder how she survived, truly. But Dakota was just smart enough. Her parents taught her good, left her with as many supplies as they possibly could. People began to notice she wasn't getting sick, that the disease did not affect her. Their dirtied, bloodied hands reached out to grab her, surely she must be some part of a cure. Dakota took to living in the shadows, running from those who tried to snatch her away. This lifestyle did not seem to last long, however, because soon enough everyone was dead, and there was no one to run from anymore.

For quite some time Dakota has been alone now -- she befriends the few wild animals she encounters every so often and entertains herself with the countless toys left behind. It's a bit tiring, and certainly very lonely.. but maybe there are still some out there. She isn't prepared to give up just yet.

Gregory's most striking feature would be the deep, dark bags under his unremarkable brown eyes and the arrogant, cocky grin he wears every waking moment of his life. He usually wears his hood up - he likes to be warm and cozy - but under it, he has short dark hair that's trimmed to a tight crew cut. He's no taller or shorter than any other young man his age, though he's a touch on the bulky side.
PERSONALITY:

Gregory is, for lack of a better word, a jackass. He is scathing and rude, and deeply contentious of others. Like all other survivors, his life has been defined by death and disease. To watch his village slowly crumble and drown under the aftermath of the war while better men and woman than him fall… it’s done some things to him.

He loves to mock and belittle others – it started as black humor and mutual roasting with his friends, but turned into genuine loathing of humanity as cynicism set in and he learned about how the war began, and ended. Humanity has reaped what it has sowed, and that even if he were to find another human, Greg believes they would be cowardly and selfish.

But it’s okay. Everyone will be dead soon. No one is immune.

HISTORY:

Gregory was a small child when the bio-attack that eradicated the rest of humanity happened. The fear of war and the slow march of death are all he knows. For some people, this might have strengthened their resolve. For Gregory, it broke his.

In the mayhem of the war and its aftermath, young Gregory lost track of his biological parents. They might have died, he might have been kidnapped. It doesn’t matter. He was brought in to and raised in a small makeshift village, alongside other orphans, refugees, and survivors. The children were taught to read and write and count, from the pages of any and all books that the adults had salvaged from the fires and the bombings. People were dying every day after all, and knowledge was too precious to allow to die with them. From here, Gregory learned the art and science of medicine. He, and other peers, took over first aid and other more menial tasks while the elders studied the disease that was slowly killing them all.

They never were able to find a cure, and one by one over the years, Gregory’s friends and family wasted away from their slow and inevitable death. He dutifully participated in the burials, choosing graves away from the water he drank from and digging holes as deep as he could.

Eventually, there came a day when the last other villager passed away, and Greg was forced to bury the woman he called his mother. He was sixteen, and ever since then, his books were all that he had for company – the words of men and women who no longer resided in this mortal coil.

Periodically, he makes a half-hearted attempt to join his family. But what about the books? What if there’s someone else out there?

… Nah. Fuck that. Humans don’t deserve to live, after all the horrific shit they did to each other.

DESCRIPTION:

Conditioned by a gray northern sky to absorb as much vitamin D as possible, Matteo has a very pale skin tone in accordance with his ancestry. Despite this heritage of colourlessness however, Matteo was born with a warm chocolate brown hair colour and natural good looks. His hair is grown out long and quite messy, but it is far from unkempt; rather, there is a sort of chaotic order that matches his style. Mixed into his hair are a few dreads, which he keeps tied behind his head at all times and has red thread spun around.His cheek bones and jaw are sharp, and framed by a short beard. The tone of blue his eyes have are chillingly cold and piercing, which alongside the scar in his left eyebrow gives him the only evil-looking feature on his face.

Though his body is rather average-looking, Matteo isn't weak. All the time spent in forests foraging to live since the disaster has left him with a working man's body mass and legs to die for. He's very stylistically set though, and has several tattoos and piercings. Expanders in his ears, a ring in his nose and a tongue piercing; while on the tattoo front there's his red and black sleeve, a nine-pointed star on his back, and barbed wire wrapped around his left calf. He largely dresses in black, tough jeans, loose t-shirts, and a army jacket. They are, after all, the only things that have lasted long enough.
PERSONALITY:

Decisive, friendly, calm and easy-going are the only set attributes Matt was born with. No matter where it's been in his life, whether kids picked on him or someone was trying to start a brawl, he's always been able to dismiss it with a smile and a word. He's far from a violent man and couldn't ever dream of so much as bumping into a friend, but at the same time he is not scared of raising a weapon for something he believes in.

Despite his easy-going nature, Matteo is quite prideful. He can stand a bit of playful banter without breaking a sweat, but if he gets the notion that someone he cares about genuinely thinks that A. he's ugly, B. he's stupid, or C. he's an asshole, he'll get incredibly self-conscious and depressed. But whilst he's both socially competent and likes to be around people, he really loves time on his own. Trying to get by without having to keep people happy is a very liberating feeling to him.

He's terrified of accidentally hurting someone he cares about, so he likes to keep his emotional distance from people through jokes and wit to mask his crippling insecurities.

- Linguistics. In hopes that he'd find other survivors one day, he was taught 5 different languages before he was the sole survivor of the north. Swedish is his mother tongue, but alongside that he knows English, Spanish, Arabic, German and Chinese. On the other hand, he's pretty bad at everything save English.
HISTORY:

Matt was just a child when it all started. His parents were some form of politicians, and the only thing he remembers from his young childhood was that they were always stressed out. He'd find them crying and comforting each other quite often, always telling him that it was nothing he'd have to worry about if they did their job right. It was a loving family, but there was a lot of sadness in it. Sadness he never quite understood.

Until soon after his 7th birthday. He lived near the center of Sweden in a fairly rural area. There was a city not too far off, but that was about it. One night he was simply woken up by his parents, told to get dressed and that they were going on a trip. He was confused, but he complied and got into the backseat of the car. As they drove over the newly-plowed roads he heard a loud 'BOOM' in the distance, and looked out the back window to see a mushroom cloud over where the city once was. Where all his friends had lived, where he was supposed to go to school.

After a night of driving through the most rural of dirt roads and the most unlikely of passages, they happened upon a large concrete construction near the side of a mountain. A large military base built in secrecy to hide the most important members of the society. A large circular bunker with a big courtyard surrounded by five and a half meter high walls. Matteo and his parents had to go through an ostentatious and grueling process of ID verification, but were in the end admitted.

For a while things were good there. Every day new people came into the base and a community started growing. Intellectuals and other people of great value to society were let inside, and the bunker was a place of great sanctuary and relief for many. After a few weeks the number of new people dwindled, and the ones who did come in looked fatigued and worn. It was nothing for the magnificent society inside these walls though, great doctors and biologists helped the sick all they could and times were fine considering the circumstances.

Well, for a couple years. It was barely noticeable at first, but slowly people became sick. It seemed like nothing, but when people started dying panic ensued. Matteo got to see as great men and women broke down into savage beasts. Two factions started forming, one that wanted to treat those who were sick and one that believed that they should be isolated or killed to prevent further spread. Matt was too young to have choice, and as such was bunched with his parents on the treatment side of the dispute.

Violence and abuse became commonplace. The soldiers at the bunker did whatever they could to keep the peace, but they simply were not enough. It went so far that there was an all out gang fight one day, where 3 people lost their lives. One of the soldiers must've had a radio or something, because it didn't take many days after the incident that an armoured vehicle rolled up to the base. Out came a man in a fancier uniform than everyone else and immediately began shouting orders.

That's were everything went to hell completely. Apparently this disease was everywhere, this General had escaped from another base where the disease had killed everyone, including his own daughter and wife. He was set on making sure the disease did not spread further, and ordered that all the sick people were killed and burned. There were protests, but the General was a man of iron will. Acts of defiance were immediately responded with a few weeks' incarceration.

Every move from this day forward was monitored. People were put into groups and put on tight schedules, and at any sight of sickness they were removed from their groups and "apprehended". Life under the General was terrible, multiple small coups and attempts to murder him was staged, but it always ended with genocide and more blood on the soldier's hands. People started committing suicide, and alongside the disease that never seemed to disappear the numbers of people in the bunker were dwindling.

It went on like this for a few years. One of the doctors managed to find something that increased resistance towards the disease, but it did nothing but prolong the inevitable. The General started going insane, talking to himself and ordering executions on mere whims. It had gotten to be far more than enough for Matt's parents, and they tried to confront him in the middle of the courtyard.

After a few minutes of argumentation the General looked them both in the eye and whispered "You're all sick, aren't you?". Matt's father grew pale, but didn't have time to respond before the General had shot each of them in the head. The snow became red, and gasps were heard from everywhere. Despite keeping out of the way for Matt's sake his parents were loved people, even by the General himself.

And so it came, that the General's stern face broke into tears for the first time since the years he came here. In a moment of epiphany he looked to Matt's teary face, and it broke him completely. All the walls he built up in attempt to protect himself from the horrible things he did in the name of survival were crushed, and it only took him a moment of hesitation before he brought the pistol to his own head and fired.

Things became a little better following the incident. Everyone did all they could for Matt to recover from the traumatic event, and little by little they succeeded. By this point, everyone was sick and tired. There was no hope left for survival, but that didn't mean that those who still lived couldn't try to make something with the last of humanity's time. And for Matt, it was the beginning of his life.

People started to notice that he never seemed to get tired like them. He was just a healthy teenager at 14 years of age, and he liked to do things. People started writing down the things they knew that they thought might be useful for him. Things like hunting, things like languages. With the last of their time, the citizens of Bunker #17 taught Matteo all they knew.

Then came the day when he was alone. He'd made sure he wouldn't have to go through disposing all the bodies before his final friend, an old soldier, died. The last words he heard before he was completely alone in this world was "Live on Matteo. Live on for humanity."

DESCRIPTION:

Yanira has pale skin that, though not porcelain, comes quite close. Her skin tone contrasts greatly with her hair, which is a raven black with a navy blue gleam. Bangs sweep over her eyes, gradually turbing into shoulder-length hair that tapers to points an inch lower than her shoulders. Her eyebrows are naturally gradual and just as dark as her hair. She has thick lashes lining violet eyes that are often mocking, determined, or narrowed. Her lips are a natural pinkish red labeled as punch, brightening up her pale complexion.

Yani has a lean body courtesy of her strict training. While she's not the strongest, she makes up for strength in stealth and agility. She has no jewelry on her body, finding them distractions and footholds for enemies during battle. She does, however, have five ink feathers falling down her spine, each feather representing a person in her family. Her old clothes are long gone, instead replaced with a black armored jumpsuit that molds to her body comfortably. Ebony boots sheathe her feet, while black gloves do the same for her hands.
PERSONALITY: Yanira tends to have split personalities depending on her current situation. If she's training or in serious battle with foes, she hardens and becomes a no-nonsense kind of person. She never playfully teases or even genuinely smiles when residing in that mode. When she's in a safe environment with trusted allies, she loves to playful tease others, even comfortable enough to physically touch others contently. In new areas, she becomes more like her battle personality, serious and observant.

Overall, she often has a hot-headed temper that easily gets ignited, though she tries to keep it cool and easy. While she occasionally becomes easy-going, she tends to fight back when she deems someone 'overpowered'. When she's not busy snapping or taunting someone, she enjoys exploring and learning, eager to learn any knowledge she can on the chance it can help her later. Once someone earns her trust, she becomes fully loyal and does anything in her power to protect said person, only turning her back on them if they betray her trust. With that said, it's common for her tiny hold long grudges. Besides her temper and trust issues, she loves to learn new facts and ideas, and never hesitates to share what she learns. Whenever she tells about something she finds interesting, her eyes light up and her words tend to pop out faster with an excited tone. Despite her steely and taunting air, she's a sucker for sharing knowledge. She's not sure whether she squirms when not sharing a related topic just because she likes to show off and seem wise, or if she just wants to help and inform others, or if it's both.

Combat

Back when the Earth was still fairly peaceful, Yani learned how to do things her mother deemed 'girly' and 'useful for a wife', such as sowing and cleaning. When the world become a darker place, however, her father intervened, snatching her and training her in combat with her three other brothers. After the war and her family's deaths, she trained vigorously, distracting her grief with the tough exercises.
HISTORY:

Yanira was the only girl born in the Derwin family. After being raised by three older brothers' influence, she became what others consider a 'tom-boy', refusing makeup and instead working and exploring the wild forest just outside their house. This infuriated her mother to no end, but Yani calmed her down by agreeing to learn 'female skills', as her mother put it. These abilities including cleaning, sowing, gardening, anything her mother deemed feminine and useful. Life was like that on their little farm for quite a while, uneventful except for big game catches, birthdays, and holidays. And then the war hit.

The children began to learn combat, Yanira included, if they ever needed to use it. She began to specialize in fighting rather than cooking, but she still helped her mother. Her oldest brother, the only eligible soldier, was drafted into the army. Four weeks after he left, a letter came home, wretched flowery words saying that her brother was shot and killed, thank you for serving, words that made her blood boil while tears streaked her face. Her family didn't do much better; when the illness hit, her mother stood no chance in her weakened state. Her father, wrecked by grief, quickly followed. Their offspring packed up, scavenging whatever they could, and prepared to leave. However, before the trio could escape into their neighboring forest, Yani's youngest brother fell ill with the same sickness that killed off their parents. He died later that day.

Yani and her remaining brother fled as soon as they buried the body of their youngest sibling, leaving behind the home they knew since the day they were born. They survived off small game, saving the canned food for desperate situations. A routine was made, a sense of familiarity making the situation somehow bearable. That all fell apart when her brother, an anchor that kept her adrift, was snatched up by a group of survivors that desperately needed someone who knew how to survive the wilderness. Yanira was deemed useless to them, much her her fury and relief. With no choice but to leave, Yani left behind her only living family and continued into the wilderness.
