Wait, what? So our characters are still a sports team? That makes no sense. My main complaint about this scenario was that it didn't fit the setting. That's why it was non-canon in the first place. Can't we just have a clean start? It'd create a lot less headaches in the long run.
Maybe my phrasing was unclear. I'm asking how to 'describe how your character is getting there' (I.E, to the stadium), when there is no stadium. How can we be en route to an event that doesn't exist?
But the arena fight plot was non-canon. So how can it lead into the actual adventure? If we're in canon now, then our characters can't also be traveling to the stadium.
These are the first two options that leap to my mind:
1) Villainous army! A mastermind (like Clover's creator) sends their forces to attack part of the city. Maybe they're looking for some vital mcguffin; Or trying to hurt an enemy of theirs. Maybe they've sent an army of disposable mooks; Or a...
Agreed. When the idea of a practice fight was proposed, I pictured something much less elaborate: Like a field with some enemies in it. Instead, a lot of time and effort has been spent on something that won't affect the actual campaign.
Our characters aren't a sports team. They don't compete in...
Zei is a fairly straightforward bruiser. She's extremely strong and resilient; Has a wide range of immunities; And can fly at 2,500 MPH. She can also travel to basically anywhere in the multiverse, if necessary. But since those powers are self-only, she probably won't use them much. Oh, and...
"I'd like that!"
Zei floated down to floor level. Time for another lesson on human pastimes. She enjoyed learning from Sidestep. He taught her so many things.
"Ah, just a game. That's good. I've seen battles like this in reality. They're far less...cute...than the fictional version."
The multiverse was vast and varied. One world's 'ridiculous fantasy' was another world's normal. That's why Zei had trouble distinguishing Earth's fiction from fact. She...
"Is this some kind of...training simulation?"
That voice came from above Sidestep. Zei floated horizontally, in a sofa-less imitation of her friend's lounging posture. She was staring intently at the onscreen battles. As with many aspects of Earth culture, it confused her.
"I wasn't aware that...
Some adventure possibilities will be shaped by the group's collective assets. For example, this team is rich. Most of us are swimming in money. Sebastian sails an ocean of it. Almost everyone here has already 'won' mundane life. Any problem that can be solved with wealth would be over before it...
There could be some plot potential in that. Maybe the group struggles to truly represent the common people, when they themselves are rich superhumans.
Correct. Her Perception got lowered in one of the revisions. I just didn't update the Edge to match.
It also costs Resolve to use now, instead...
That idea gets my vote! It'd bond the team, without compromising their independence.
I also like the contrast between our two immortals: One a rootless wanderer, who owns almost nothing; The other a patient builder, whose wealth grows with each generation.
As I've said, Zei probably lacks a connection to most of the cast. She does have 'Outsider' as one her flaws, after all. But I do like the suggestion of her being friends with Sidestep. They share a penchant for exploration; And the wisdom to keep their mouths shut about dangerous secrets. When...
