Yes, humans "evolved" into pledges in a way. Also yes, partially due to having the sheer amount of knowledge and power the upper classes have amassed. Very few pledges outside of mammals and avians ever become knights, let alone royalty. The ones that do are usually outliers for their class.

Any real life animal you can think of. Reptiles, amphibians, sea creatures, and insects are totally welcome. Just sadly nothing like dragons, phoenixes, griffons etc.

It's more low fantasy, and the sorry the main species are humans. Later on when they travel outside of Adrea I plan to introduce other species though!
