See, I tend to do fine when I know there's a common interest we all have. Unfortunately "role play" is too broad a topic to really connect with someone over.
Yea, I do better off introducing myself and getting acquainted with smaller groups. But smaller groups tend to be rather like-minded, so if you don't fit in, you never will. But larger groups are daunting in their own way.
I'm with you there, yea. I don't get the point of a writer trying to make a modern fantasy, but trying to make something as mundane as a lighter seem fantastical to the reader. I don't remember the book, but there was only one time I've seen so far where that style made sense. There was a wizard...
Dude, nice. Do you have any particular preference towards a certain type of fantasy?
I'm more into mid to high kind of fantasy person, but I do love almost all of the branches of fantasy I've come across.
Man, that's pretty sad. That's a lot of dedication to just being wasted. At least in my group, people spent at most a couple hours coming up with the setting of the roleplay and just threw together some generic character that'd be forgotten about a week after the role play died out.
Good on...
It's a whole new level of sad when the person who spent all this time setting up a cool scenario and world in an introduction is the same person who also just uses it for playground romance.
They'd set up an entire scenario where two countries are at war, but completely ignore it for the most...
I haven't focused too much on my writing in awhile, but I do enjoy world and character building.
And of the table tops, I'm actually in a couple D&D campaigns right now. I've only ever heard of a few table top games (D&D, Pathfinder, some mech one) and was surprised at just how many there are.
I'm on the same boat as you actually. I had a bunch of people who I used to rp with that, no matter the topic or type of role play, always made it about romances. It got tiring knowing that any good idea went to waste and was always pushed aside for forced relationships.
Howdy all!
Between stumbling across rpers in a couple of MMOs I play and playing a couple of D&D games, I've been itching to try text based role plays again. The last time I role played purely through text was 6 or so years ago, and I only had one partner. I tried getting into forum roleplay...
