how the mighty fall...
Welcome to Elysium Heights—the safest city in the US, with an advanced technology unlike any other to boot. It’s like Heaven on Earth! Or, at least, that’s what the sign at the town’s border says.
The year is 2078. There are still no flying cars, much to the dismay of every inventor ever—but there are genetically modified "superheroes."
Or villains, if you're so inclined.
It started a little over fifty years ago, when a scientific organization known as HavenGate offered financial incentives to parents in exchange for using their newborns in medical testing. The goal? Modify human cells to enhance—or outright embed—superhuman abilities into the body.
Some of these children grew up to become world-renowned heroes, feared villains, or lone vigilantes. Others? Perfectly ordinary people with above-average skills and a secret. Nowadays, powers aren’t rare—it’s a game of genetic roulette.
But just because you’re powerful doesn’t mean you’re a hero.
True recognition only comes with affiliation—specifically, with A.N.G.E.L., a corporate-run agency that prides itself on keeping Elysium Heights safe. Anyone not affiliated with A.N.G.E.L. is labeled a vigilante if they interfere with crime-fighting, law enforcement, or “corporate security matters.”
There are a few teams sponsored by A.N.G.E.L., but one stands above the rest: a group made up of Elysium Heights’ most dependable, powerful, and intellectually gifted heroes.
At least—they were.
Until an unfortunate accident—“unforeseen circumstances,” was what the media claimed—wiped out the entire team.
That’s where their replacements come in. Maybe they’re capable heroes. Maybe they’re reformed villains. Maybe they’re just desperate to make a difference. Either way, it won’t be easy.
Especially with rumors swirling that the so-called accident? Was an inside job.

the end of an age...
...the start of another
the heroes
While not quite the ideal replacements for their fallen predecessors that A.N.G.E.L. had in mind, they are the best that Elysium Heights still has to offer—upstanding and with good intentions, they are all-too-willing to fill the shoes left for them. When their beliefs are put to the test and loyalties challenged, it’s up to them to decide what cause they’re really fighting for—personal glory, or the greater good?
the villains
Even worse-suited for a position on A.N.G.E.L.’s new team of misfits, their involvement is proof of how desperate the agency is—or how dire the situation has become. Their special abilities don’t equate to pure intentions—there’s no question that they accepted the job offer out of selfish reasons, but what their righteous counterparts see as a work hazard might reveal itself to be far more useful than they could have imagined.
the vigilantes
No promise of fame or money is enough to dissuade them from their own moral codes. Whether leaning toward hero or villain, they prefer to work alone—on their own terms—and their history of questionable methods are proof of that. Without the agency to clean up their messes and purify their reputations, they do more harm than good, which begs the question: who are they really trying to help?
the civilians
While not possessing otherworldly talents, they have just as much on the line as Elysium Heights’ super residents. With so many wannabe heroes running amuck, it’s impossible to avoid becoming entangled in their complicated web to some degree—many civilians find themselves involved with them, in more ways than one. Regardless of the type of relationship, as things in Elysium turn hellish, personal lives aren’t expected to fair much better.

"Stand or fall, I know there shall be peace in the valley, and it’s all an affair of my life. With the heroes and villains my children were raised. You know, they suddenly rise; they started slow, long ago—head to toe, healthy, wealthy, and wise."
introducing...
Hi! So if you've made it this far... this is a roleplay centering around superhumans, civilians, and the drama that comes with it all! There's going to be a main plot to follow, but we're aiming for this to be a collaborative story! We're taking heavy inspiration from The Boys, Invincible, and Marvel! The idea is that A.N.G.E.L—a powerful corporation profiting off the heroes who protect the city—lost its most iconic team of heroes in a tragic accident… or so they claim.
Now, the corporation is scrambling to save face and replace them—recruiting legacy kids, reformed villains, vigilantes, or anyone desperate (or foolish) enough to put on the costume.
While there's the "main" heroes, civilians, rivals, and antagonists shape the fate of Elysium Heights, too. Bring your imagination!

⇾ Rule 1:
Discord is required for OOC plotting. This is collaborative storytelling, and without communication, it just wouldn't work without it.
⇾ Rule 2:
Real face claims, and 18+ characters only.
⇾ Rule 3:
It's a superhero RP. It's going to be tough to "claim" a power / ability. Of course, we're going to try not to be too OP. Everyone should have their drawbacks - and nobody should be practically immortal.
⇾ Rule 4:
Let's keep the drama IC. This is a safe space and won't tolerate hate of any kind.
