Ah, yeah, sounds like you know what you're doing for sure! o: I've only ever been with relaxed GMs, and I've seen the good and bad with that. The one strict GM I'd been with wasn't the most pleasant, but to be fair some of the issues were mine since I was nervous about communication, and sometimes I wouldn't make it on time (it was proper D&D with some scattered timezones, so being late just wasn't a good idea). It also taught me that I'm not quite prepared for voicechat RPing yet.

Collabing for parts with a lot of dialogue is a good idea. I think a lot of people end up dropping RPs because they get stuck with their characters, feeling the need to do more than answer someone or do a single thing in a post. Then you have the one-liner people who don't mind how big the post is, but others find one-liners annoying and hard to keep up with. D&D has always had good fluidity with that, but I never thought it could be done on the forums. Now I know, collabs are key! The results definitely look good.
How are you liking your cast so far? I'm still amazed by the diversity here on RPNation. I cam from a dying forum, so I've only ever known the same ten or fifteen people.

The simple variety of my players never ceases to amaze me and I think the benefits of the heterogenous 'skill levels', comfortable post lengths and attitudes will continue to show themselves as we go along. I think everyone being effectively the same 'level' can be very stifling, and a subdued competetiveness, that maintains cooperativeness and mutual enjoyment brings out the best in people and ultimately improves the overall standards of everyone involved. I can see this happening just a little bit already in my own group and I'm very happy with the results.

Anyway, the problem with collabs is that they're very strenuous, especially if you try to edit them into a better singular narrative like I do. Not to mention, as the post is being worked on the rest of the RP is effectively grinded to a halt, presuming it isn't worked around.

on the side, you don't have to be just a lurker, you know. I've never seen it done but I'd like to see people outside of an RP discuss it anyway, just browsing through. Ofc in your case it helps that you expressed interest already lmaoo

Yeah, a lack of competition causes stagnation, for sure. I worry I'm not doing well in the cooperation side of it though, especially since I don't really socialize outside of a few RP-related topics here and there. I know I should talk to others more - with one RP experience as proof since it was as active as a chat room - but I just don't have anything to say. No one seems to have issues with me, but I feel like I should be doing more, at least as a DM. You seem to have it in the bag though!
Collabs are a bit stressful, but I tend to worry more about the progression of the RP than editing it. Having written a novel I've found that writing and editing are two things I can do easily, but in order to collab you need the other person to be responsive. So far I haven't had issues with collabs stagnating, and holding up the rest of the RP as a result, but there's a first time for everything, right?

:'D You're sure it wouldn't be intrusive if I did anything? I feel so awkward posting in the OOC of something I'm not actually in, unless it's to express interest, but there's an interest check thread for that. Not that I have much to say other than "wow, I should've jumped into this sooner". Although in all honesty, that might be for the better. I love the RP, as it's like the one sci-fi book I'm looking for but can't find, but I don't think I could RP in it properly because my characters tend to run off on their own. With other RPs I avoid that by getting as good of a grasp of the RP as I can, but for NCQuest I feel like I don't have "control" over my ideas yet, if that makes any sense. It's like your RP is a train running smoothly on the track, and my ideas are like fireworks that might accidentally burn something down. XD Though I will say I've talked about NCQuest with one other friend, via Discord; I just don't think he cared because he's not into mechs like I am, lol.
Hey! Thanks for taking over real quick. I somehow haven't gotten any notifications and I'm really glad you replied!

No problem! I often end up in a semi-co-gm position just because of timezones or the GM suddenly being too busy for a few days, so I'm used to organizing information and explaining things. XD I don't mind it~
That slow forum you mentioned moving from in that interest check you posted... Was it for a dragon-themed adoptables site, by any chance?

Hey, a correct guess! Nice! Hi, I didn't know you were on here. XD I imagine I was easy to remember though, using the same name and avatar basically everywhere. How's your experience on this forum been? It looks pretty active, but I have no idea what the community is like.

I've been here for a while, and I can say that it sees lots of activity, but the current trends are starting to get on my nerves. And everyone uses images for their characters instead of written descriptions, which I think is weird.

The current trends? What's up with them? I've only roleplayed on DCF, Magistream, and once on FR. They're all pretty ordinary as far as formatting and stuff goes. Images I guess aren't too bad... though I can see how it'd be annoying, especially if the character itself has differences from the reference image that need mentioning anyway. : P Also if you want to switch to PMs for this, that's fine by me. XD
