    People like to deride the concept of a Duke Nukem movie/film series, but having played the games since the original Apogee platformers everyone apparently forgot existed, I can see an interesting story to be presented. Duke Nukem started as a normal guy in a pink shirt who went out to defeat evil not to save the world, but to save his way of life. If Dr. Proton took over the world, there would be no more talk shows.

    Then after he saved the world from Proton he was thrust into becoming a public figure and had to deal with fame, which was honestly slowly getting to his head, and by games 3 and 4 (3D and Forever) he had fully embraced action hero status to his own detriment. He essentially became a gross parody of the action heroes he admired from movies, but there's no stopping when aliens keep invading and blow up your ride(s).

    He became trapped in a life he never wanted and had to make a joke out of it to make himself feel better. He's a very flawed and relateable character when you start from word one. It's when you start the story with 3D and Forever that he's a farce. Cuz that was the point.

    I beat the vanilla .hack//GU experience yesterday finally after all these years! The Marriage ending could have been better than a slideshow, though. :/
