The Bullet Point Version of What To Expect When Writing With Me: (None of this is hard-and-fast rules, and yes, I know I suck at bullet points. I hope to eventually clean this up into a more concise list, with a more detailed and explanation heavy list after it. Message me with any questions!)
-Science fiction and fantasy plots/settings over straight realism
If fandom (not super often, but not opposed), OC’s and using the existing world over canon characters and plots
-Deciding outcomes of plot/conflict via group discussion instead of game mechanics or stats
-Face claims, illustrations, doll makers, whatever are all fine by me, so long as you credit the originator! I tend towards a thorough description and maybe some doll makers, but I can work with your visual requirements as needed.
-Groups over one x one, smaller groups (5 and under I guess?) over larger groups. Not opposed to doing a one x one or a big group, but I really enjoy the collaboration and input from other writers that you can get from several writers, which can then get lost in a bigger group.
-Writing for multiple characters instead of just one- Even if they aren’t ‘on-screen’, I like to have some ‘supporting cast’ for my principal perspective character that I’ll reference or use in non-playable or all-playable capacities. I’m also comfortable filling roles that are needed- We need a baddie to cause some conflict? A one arc character to move the story along for a bit? I gotcha.
-Romance as it develops or is relevant to the plot, over romance-necessary or absolutely-no-romance. Unless the other writer and I have already decided on a shared history between these characters (which I love doing btw, let’s conspire) they probably shouldn’t be making out so soon after meeting each other. Similarly, relationships (or attempts at forming/maintaining them) can add some great conflict to the main plot, so I’m never opposed!
Romantic relationships of any kind, instead of only M/F. To be incredibly blunt, I’m a queer lady and part of the reason I like RP’ing is because it allows me to create characters and stories that I don’t get to see elsewhere. If you are only interested in writing M/F relationships (and especially if you’ve ever felt the need to justify why), then I can’t imagine that we would be a good fit, for a whole host of reasons.
‘Any kind’ is perhaps a bit misleading- I’m not interested in depicting relationships with significant age or authority differences in a positive context. But that’s the biggest caveat.
-I tend to do a lot of unintentional worldbuilding, but would also love to explore what you’ve created! I am a very referential writer and tend to describe my characters and their actions and thoughts with the context of their setting or their own history, which can occasionally be an issue if another writer (or, myself at an earlier or later point in time!) is envisioning something different. Just let me know! Alternatively if you’ve got your world all set up and locked down and need some mice to run about in it… Talk to me about what kinda mice you need and I would love to let mine loose in your maze!
-Multi Paragraph responses. I like to give other writers a host of things to chose to respond to, so in each response my principal characters will usually have both action and dialogue, and often a reflection on their motivations (usually from me in 3rd person omniscient, but sometimes as thoughts the character is actively having).
-Weekly responses. I can usually respond more than once a week, but if it’s going to be longer I’ll let you know.
-Minimal/simple coding. I am not one to deny the fun of fonts, but apparently I am also a luddite at heart and cannot understand these fancy shenanigans. If you are a big fan of lots animations and gifs, more than three colors in a post, or posts in which multiple tabs need to be clicked through in order to read everything that was written… So long as I can read it on mobile and desktop I guess it's fine, but please don't expect me to be at your level!
Some of my favorite tropes/themes/stuff that I enjoy including in my writing are:
mistaken identities • planned recurring motifs • fake relationships • ironic foreshadowing • excessive pining • characters who knew each other as children reconnecting as adults and having to reconcile the changes • positive sibling relationships • characters being Stupid-Yet-Noble™ • characters recovering from trauma and/or abuse • miscommunication that results in either drama, hilarity, or both • found family • manipulative/scheming characters who intentionally let others underestimate them • hand or limb loss • being very mean to my characters, mostly in their backstories • culture clash/misunderstandings • characters who feel undeserving of love and support, and are going to get it regardless • probably a bunch of other stuff that I cannot articulate here
