Alex garrison is a normal guy to most people. Lived a normal life, grew up from kid to adult without little trouble. He was also very healthy to a point he never got a bruise or scratch though he was a wild kid climbing trees and houses. His kid years looked normal but then he turned 18 and an unknown power appeared from within him. He woke up one day turned into a monster, he freaked out and when he tried to get up and do something he accidently broke the wall of his room to his mother’s room. Luckily it wasn’t load bearing. His mother rushed over and gasped seeing him. But then calmed down and explained to him what this power was. Turns out his mom was unknowingly dating a humanoid monster that didn’t want to kill or destroy things. It wanted to live as a human so it did for a while before the defense force came in and killed him after they found out what he was. The mother pregnant of Alex but kept it hidden from everyone and was able to hid the monster side of Alex. So that explained why he had the powers of a monster,
The next 3 years he trained to control his powers, he has basic control over them but hasn’t reached his peak yet, as he trained he also went out to help the people in secret getting hunted a few times but rookie groups so he was able to get out easily and hide. He worked jobs too during that time though he struggled to keep the jobs he did due to his sudden leave during shifts. But it was because he was defending the people from monsters. After the 3 years he spent a year or 2 just being a freelance hero hidden from the people taking out his own kind that caused the people trouble. But one day he made a decision that could backfire on him to join the defense force.
