Harpies are intelligent bird-like Monsters who soar the skies, catching both landlocked animals and airborne wildlife alike. They typically nest in high places - Mountain peaks, tall trees, et cetera - and 90% of them live entirely alone. When they gather in flocks, however, they can become particularly dangerous, as when teaming up with others they can overwhelm Humans and take them away as food as well. Even when they don’t team up, people are still advised not to go into known Harpy territory without a form of protection. Their territorial nature rivals the Lamias, and they have equally been known to kidnap trespassers, albeit with a more certain fate of becoming food. Due to living entirely alone, many of them do not learn any kind of language at all, instead communicating through songs, and while no Harpy song has ever matched that of a Mermaid, many agree that they can still be nice to listen to.
Ryaki is a playful Harpy who spends her time toying with her food before she eats it. She doesn’t seem malicious at all - She’s just gotta eat, is all! She is part of a flock of Harpies, who have all taught each other to speak English, which was taught to their community generations before any of them were born. They all live on a floating island, consisting mostly of tall trees, steep hills and cliffsides, and an ancient castle known as Venzia Fortress. Ryaki seems to be very excitable in general, and is very sociable, often approaching unthreatening Humans to chat for a while.
