Many years ago, there was a small village in a neighboring kingdom that, much like Ikari, was set up at the crossroads of two main roads. In this village lived a girl named Amelia, who was born into a family of fishermen. Little did she know that she had been chosen by Demons to partake in a ritual, in an early attempt to summon Sarlem to Heaven using three specific types of Human souls, and Xeris, their newly crafted enchanted sword. The sword would absorb the souls of an innocent maiden housing a spirit of purity, a brave adventurer housing a spirit of bravery, and a holy king housing the spirit of justice. Together with these three spirits, Xeris would tear open a rift leading straight to Heaven, allowing the Demons to enter and invade.
Her village was attacked, with Amelia as the target. Seeing this, Paladins serving under Repith came up with a plan: To keep Amelia’s soul from being stolen by the Demons, they would use their Spirit magic to seal it inside of a large crystal they kept in the center of town as decoration. Amelia would be unable to leave the village, but she was content with that, and with the kingdom’s soldiers protecting them, they were able to complete the ritual to seal her soul to the crystal. Safe in the knowledge that the Demons couldn’t reach Amelia, they pushed forward to their base of operations, defeating them and locking the enchanted sword away while they tried to think of a way to destroy it for good.
Amelia, in the meantime, remained bound to the village. Several days later, some strange hooded figures appeared, and altered the magic inside the crystal before quietly leaving. Nobody knew what they did, but after some time it had become apparent that Amelia had stopped aging, and she also discovered that by interacting with the crystal, she could pull up the memory of anything in the village’s past, even as far as sending people to echoes of previous points in time. She wasn’t sure why she was granted this power, but she made the most of it as it was. Although the village itself lost relevance as bigger and more convenient adventurer stops were founded, and became a poor shadow of its former self, Amelia still watches over the village, letting the occasional passerby see its history if they wish.
