A Magical Romance

Forest Dragon Slayer

The Samurai of the Forest
"It's the weekend but there's nothing to do." Takeshi said as he walked down the streets on a Saturday afternoon. He finished all of his homework and he had nothing else to do. His mom wouldn't let him just stay in the house and play video games or watch TV and she told him to go outside. Soon after remembering that, he came across a flea market filled with goods from all over the world. That's rare, having a flea market around this time of year. Takeshi thought to himself before deciding to look around. Might as well look and see what around. He looked around the various goods in the street, some looking exotic and others looked sort of suspicious.

"Would you like to buy a magic lamp?" He heard a man say to him, causing him to turn towards the direction of the voice.

"Magic Lamp? That can't be true. There's no such thing as magic." Takeshi said in response.

"You'd be surprised how much is out there that you don't know about." The man replied. "This lamp indeed carries much magic, real magic. I shall give it to you, the stars have recently shown that it belongs with someone other than me and I believe it to be you. I wish you luck in unlocking it's magic." He said as he put the lamp in Takeshi's hands and turned him around. "Now run along now."

"Hey, wait." Takeshi said as he turned around. However, the man was gone. Well that was weird. He thought to himself as he looked at the lamp before deciding to head home, thinking he's seen enough weird stuff for today. When he got home, he went into his room and put the lamp on his desk. Magic huh? Sounds more like a hoax to me. Maybe this whole day has been a type of hallucination or something from heat stroke. It is summer after all. He thought to himself as he picked it up. Okay, the lamp is not a hallucination at least. He thought as he began to turn it in his hands. What did that Aladdin guy do? I think he rubbed it or something. Out of amusement, he decided to rub the side of the lamp. Soon after doing so, it began to shake, causing Takeshi to drop it back onto his desk and jump back to his shinai which he used for kendo. Somewhat weirded out, he held the bamboo sword getting ready for anything.

Kayagami a small and young girl had been sitting in her pink bottle for days, months and years after her last owner had sold her for money, barely interested in her power or abilities and more interested in becoming welds thy by selling the bottle and making a fortune. Over the years people turned a blind eye to the bottle, no one interested in buying it nor believing how the greatest and most magical fortune was held in it.

She wasn't just a regular girl, she was a genie. She had an incredible abilities to grant wishes for another, with the powers she held. She had been sitting in her bottle, unable to grant wishes nor share her powers with another since her other owner had abandoned her.

She was quite hopeful when the flea market began, people examined the bottle regularly though didn't think upon having it until the young boy took it from the man, taking her home. She was glad that she had a new owner and when he rubbed the lamp a cloud smoke erupted and the small girl was soon standing opposite him.

What the heck is going on here!?! Takeshi thought to himself when he saw the girl appear. This has to be a hallucination or something! He then began to calm himself down as he stood up straight. "Who are you?" Takeshi asked keeping a hand on his shinai's hilt just in case something unexpected happened. Another thought occurred to him that a bamboo practice sword wouldn't be able to anything to a magical being in the first place.

Kayagami gave a weak smile as she blushed at him, he was rather handsome though she shrugged the though out of her mind. "M-My name is Kayagami. I've been trapped in that bottle for over years now and I am a genie" She says quietly.

A genie!?! Looks like that old geezer wasn't as crazy as I first thought. Either that, or I'm hallucinating. Takeshi thought to himself before beginning to speak to the genie girl named Kayagami. "A genie huh? That's a new one on me. My name's Takeshi, Takeshi Kurogane. Nice to meet you I guess." He said, surprised that his voice sounded so calm as he held out his hand for a hand shake.

Kayagami shook his hand gently with a light smile. "It's nice to meet you Takeshi" She says softly as she pulls her hand away, she begins to look around curiously, it had been a while since she had been outside or in someone's house and it took a while for her to adjust.

Takeshi just watched as Kayagami curiously looked around his room. "If you were sealed in that lamp for so long, you probably don't know much about what's going on. You gonna be okay?" He asked wondering what she thought about her current situation.

Kayagami nodded slowly though reassuringly as she looked around the room, glancing around various objects as she passed them. She sat down on the bed that was in the room.

"You're already used to your current situation huh? Amazing." Takeshi said to Kayagami. "Why were you trapped in that thing anyway? Doesn't seem very humane."

Kayagami shrugged lightly, running a hand through her hair gently. "My other owner didn't want me any longer, so they put me back in my bottle and sold the bottle for a fortune. I've been in there for a while, until you came along" She smiles gratefully at him.

"That's just cruel. Why would they do that sort of thing?" Takeshi replied. "You're a living being, not some object." He was actually sort of pissed of how she was just sold around like merchandise.

Kayagami shrugs and stood up. "You won't give me up will you? Or sell me for a fortune? I really like it here!" She begs softly, not wanting to go back to the boring years in her bottle.

"I'm not that sort of person you know. I wouldn't force someone back into what's basically a prison." Takeshi replied. "Also, since I don't think it's right to own someone in the first place, I don't think I can sell you or give you up. You're your own person."

Kayagami nodded slowly as she sat down on the bed, breathing a light sigh of relief as she did so. "Thank you" She mumbles quietly as she continues to glance around the room here and there.

"Don't mention it." Takeshi replied. "You hungry at all? I don't think you've much to eat if at all the time you were in there. My parents are both gone and my little sister is training right now so we have the house to ourselves. I'll cook you something." He then began to head towards the kitchen. "Have a type of dish you like?"

Kayagami shrugged lightly. "I don't mind, I'm not really fussy when it comes to food so you can cook anything you please" She tells him and then sat down on a chair. It was true, she hadn't eaten in a fairly long time.

"Okay then, I'll just make some fried rice." Takeshi said as he prepared some rice that was in the fridge and got out a frying pan. He began frying the rice, eggs, and other ingredients in the frying pan. In about 5 minutes, the aroma of the dish filled the air as Takeshi finished up cooking the fried rice and put them on two separate plates, one of which was placed in front of Kayagami. "So what do you plan on doing now that you're out of that lamp?" Takeshi asked as he began eating.

Kayagami watched him as he placed a plate in front of her, she smiles and thanks him, sniffing the food appreciatively, she spoons a mouthful into her mouth and smiles, he was a good cook so it seemed. She just shrugged lightly at his questions. "Nothing in particular, just explore I suppose and grant as many wishes as one desires" She tells him and smiles, nodding and then goes back to eating. Once she was done she turned to him, fiddling with a strand of her hair. "Is there anything in particular you would wish for?" She asks, curiously.

"I guessed you would ask about that at some point, you being a genie and all." Takeshi replied as he also finished his food. "I'm actually sort of embarrassed to say I can't think of any wishes I have. I just never thought of it before. Can you only use your magic when someone wishes for something?"

Kayagami nodded, people mostly said that when she asked them but later on they would be piling her with wishes, she smiles at the thought. She nods at his questions, "I suppose so" She says with a nod, clearing away her food.

"Isn't that really inconvenient?" Takeshi asked as he was cleaning the dishes. "You can't use any of your powers unless someone wants something from you. Don't you have any wishes you want to grant yourself?"

Kayagami sighed and then stood up, going over to the window and gazed out of it. "I would like to wish for one thing...." She says thoughtfully as she continues to gaze out of the window.

Kayagami sighs, "I would really like to have love. To love someone and for them to love me in the same way...." She says and then shakes her head, turning to him and then looking down. "It's so stupid....I mean, who would love me anyway?" She says.

"Ah, love, perhaps the only thing a genie can't make happen along with bringing back the dead." Takeshi said feeling a bit bad for her having been lonely like that for who knows how long. "It's not a stupid idea though. I'm sure that you'll find someone you love that loves you back, I'm sure of it." He said this with a grin in a reassuring tone as he patted her on the head.
