Name: Cecily Bucointe
Clan: NONE
Homeland: Ymon
Written Description:
She looks little and dainty, perfectly content and full of light and life and laughter. Don’t let that fool you. The fangs are there, behind pretty pink lips. The small frame moves with supernatural speed, strength, and grace. Certainly, she remains beautiful, but only off the blood of mortals.
Personality:
Before, Cecily was an energetic girl, and perhaps overly friendly. The scandal of her mother’s affair, well-concealed from the general public, earned her the ire of her father and siblings, though they raised her as their own out of pride, and the practical acknowledgement that a girl can be a useful negotiating tool. This damaged her self-worth, and as years went on she worked harder and harder to earn their approval. This has cultivated diligence, focus, and selflessness in her. However, after she died and Came Back, things changed. Much was the same – a devoted, lively, but not at all self-assured girl she remains. But she is muddled, not as cheerful – far more expressive than she was before, but coupled with the vague wisps of memory she has left and the drowning effect emotions and urges now have on her, this can be a bad thing. Tact and strategy are no longer among her strong suits.

Cecily was born to a wealthy family, an affluent member of the merchant class. The family’s ancestry was less than desirable, and their wealth begun on (furiously denied) unscrupulous deeds. They were moving up, though – Cecily was engaged to be married, her hand belonging to Rainart von Tippen, a well-known and respected knight with a family name steeped in history. On the surface, a marriage of convenience, as the Bucointes needed the von Tippen name and the von Tippens needed the Bucointe wealth – but there was love, there was love.

It wasn’t long before the wedding when she fell ill. The doctors had no name for it, but it took her voice first, silencing a once-chatty girl. Cecily got sicker and sicker, and her family and betrothed had exhausted all their options before accepting that these days were her last. But Rainart did not give up there. He began negotiations with the Necromancer – the man had a theory, a genius idea to revolutionize his practice, to iron out what ruffles there usually were. Rainart, determined, was happy to offer Cecily’s fresh body to experimentation. They waited until after the funeral, when none might notice her missing, and paid off the burial crew so they could steal her corpse away.

With no recollection of her life, in death she rattled her broken vocal chords and hissed and lashed out all too frequently. That first night, she nearly killed her beloved. Rainart, never one to give up or back down, kept her locked up in his cellar, for it became clear she was dangerous to keep in polite company, particularly when she was hungry. With new fangs and new strength and new speed and qualities she should not have possessed – it wasn’t her. After a few days, the bloodhaze faded some from her eyes – enough for her to feel she wanted to protect Rainart, not hurt him.
Something seemed to remain of her; with her health she was compulsive, always cleaning, always inspecting herself, clinging to doctors if ever she saw them – which, admittedly, was rare and occurred all of once. She escaped, once – she was found, not making trouble to the surprise of all aware, but rather observing transactions at the marketplace with fascination. And she obsessed over Rainart, threw herself at him, hated to part from him. Rainart could do no wrong. Rainart she always protected. Rainart she never attacked – not after the first few days, at least, and though she did try to feed, it was almost more an attempted kiss than an attempted bite. Rainart she would obey.

She stopped rocking, crouching, a number of other animalistic behaviors. She demonstrated restraint, even when hungry. You could look in her eyes and almost see the cogs starting to turn. Then, one day, she woke up – literally, from a dream in which she had wallowed in blood – and her vocal chords would not comply as she tried to scream. Her mind awoke as well, and she dissolved into hysterics, threatening to unhinge once more from horror. Had she really… fed? What was she? She had to calm herself down that night, and when Rainart entered in the morning to visit, she looked at him and almost, almost remembered. It was at the tip of her tongue – but no. She could not place his face in her memory. But her mind was whirring, she was thinking, and she cast a glance about for a parchment.
She had so many questions to ask.
