Last Train West - Interest Check

Welcome to Bangs, TX, population 2872. It is the wake of the US Civil War. Now Bangs isn’t some boom town. It is just one of those small towns that was built along the railroad with a pit stop for mail delivery and the occasional passenger.


Bangs, TX experiences something the town has never felt before in the middle of the night - an earthquake, hardly a major quake, but enough to rouse the populace and scare some of them into thinking the world has come to an end. The train making a layover for repairs is unharmed. Telegraph lines are suddenly cut off. The once clear night sky is suddenly clouded.


The town of bangs is soon to discover they aren't in Texas anymore, but in a strange land. Most of them will have a tough time grasping the idea of being on an alien world. But that is precisely what has happened. A circle of the Earth some 10 miles across has literally been ice cream scooped out and transplanted onto a new planet. And they will soon learn that they are not alone.


The new world is Earth-like, but primitive. The local climate is much like Equatorial Africa - as are some of the 'natives'. The only thing going for the humans will be their technology as most of the aliens are still in the Classic era or earlier.


The RP is going to be intended for strong writers. I will be looking for 5-8 members.


Typical characters will include, Sheriff, deputies, various shop owners, local preacher, the train engineer, a gunslinger or two, tavern owner, etc. (I do NOT want a dozen gunslingers ... please)

One of the things I am going to need will be some good pics for the aliens. One of the main races will be humanoid, with a culture and technology similar to ancient Rome. There will be some that are more advanced, though I don't plan any to have gunpowder. Feudal age at most. I am thinking of one race being similar to the ones in Avatar, but human sized.


Survival will be as much about diplomacy as technology. After all, you only have so many bullets to start. Once those run out, you better have a new source ....

I am pretty decent at drawing, but it's mainly anime. Google helps! I think I can try to draw humanoid if you give me a pretty specific description I can draw those

I found me some images. Trying to avoid anime to be honest. I plan to use some pretty familiar images. I just suck at searches.


The largest population will look pretty human. That would be the race similar to Romans. Totally different gods - not monotheistic. Still using slaves. Not nice people. But you ought to be able to dress like one and pass for one of mute - until someone learns the language... That will be your greatest barrier. Fear not, there is at least one peaceful race on the planet.

I can also try looking for some nice images for aliens and the largest population of humans. I have an few images in my mind concerning how the aliens might look, though I am not sure if you have a certain description or personal preference of how they might look.

Already working to get the RP ready. Should have one other person joining us. I have two characters in the works. One is used mainly as an NPC, a former Texas Ranger. The other is a school teacher. The other person has a doctor / veterinarian. The ladies were fairly new in town, but known and recognized by all. (The school teacher got some shooting lessons from the ranger and had half the town ducking for cover. The doctor is a lady. Enough said. Her only patients are animals, chinamen, injuns, etc. If you can pay, she doesn't care who you are.)

I would be the one with the doctor character. You will find we have some very well developed characters. Unfortunately they were developed for an RP that turned out to be a one liner circus. I happen to love the storyline of Mitheral's character's arrival. So I'll be talking him into cleaning it up and adding a link for those who want to read it. I'll likely do much the same.

Well, folks didn't seem to understand what Under Construction meant - that the RP wasn't ready for sign ups. But go ahead and sign up. I am going to temporarily close the sign up except for you guys - probably for a day or so while I recover. Wasn't expected a flood of characters. I think we have 4 plus myself and Sharlene (and a few NPC's)

Sorry, I didn't realize that you weren't accepting though it was under Construction, as I saw another character sheet already up. I can withdraw my character at the moment if this makes it easier.

No, go ahead and post in the sign ups. I am going to edit the initial post in that section to close it so all but those who have already expressed interest. The idea was to get the RP ready, then give you guys time for first crack at sign ups. At least most of the apps looked pretty good. One was pretty scant and I turned it down.
