Like everyother fantasy world, one must have lore. Thedas, a large world, mostly covered in water as many of the large land masses are pushed together, has a vast landscape. Which means a variety of people, beliefs, terrains, wildlife and much more. To make this easier, I'll do a brief explaintion about somethings, before I go deeper. While you must be reasonable, most fantasy races are accepted, and live in one of the kingdoms or villages of Thedas. This also goes for many fantasy creatures. You can find griffens and trolls, maybe even dragons here, but they will all be slightly different from each region. You won't find a cave troll out in the desert, of a frosy dragon swimming around , catch my drift. And your personality may be influenced by where you were raised. If you were born and raised in the city of Jargon, you won't be to friendly with non human folk, where as if you were born in Kaiden, it's the exact opposite. It may also play into your skills as well. Growing up in a fishing village, you'd be better at tying knots and of course fishing than someone who grew up in a desert village. A person from a large city may be a better pick pocket, or even someone from one of the colleges would be a bit smarter, along with nobles who had access to higher education. Okay, with that out of the way, lets get going. But first, the rules
In Thedas, there is a multitude of different magic types. Ranging from runic to angleic, the possibilities are nearly limitless. That is, of you have the skill. While most people are capable of very basic types of magic, fire and healing for example, some many not be able to get past this first stage. It takes many years of practice and discipline for one to master even the basics of magic. Runic, may be the easiest magic ability tonmaster, as you only draw runes on things to have thugs happen. While Divine, of Angleic magic may be the hardest. Even many who practice Divine magic still struggle to control it. Magic that most don't mess with are Demonic, Necromancy, and Blood. Demonic and Necromancy, while widely hated, are still perfectly legal under the right circumstances, whereas Blood magic is illegal in all circumstances, punished by death.
Then, there are some born with the raw talent of at least one, maybe two magical types. Thess people are taken off by a certain group of people to train under for many years of their lives, until they graduate, of die in the rigorous training. Magic can also come in the form of magical items and crystals, each serving a different purpose. Some let you communicate with other people across great distances. Others, have a healing effect. Some are weapons or different tools. And guess what? They can easily be recharged using your own magical energy.

Arcadia
Current Status: In Ruins
Castle: Castle Moore
Colors: Red and Gray
Info: What was once a large city, is now a decaying corpse. The buildings are demolished, bodies litter the streets, smoke hangs thick an heavy in the air. The castle, seemingly the same, was now a mass grave like the rest of the city. Its halls, covered in the blood of anyone who was there, and didn't survive. A heavy magical energy hangs in the air, left over from the onslaught.
Mithril
Current Status: Unpleasant, yet somewhat livable
Castle: None, they have a main hall located nare the town center.
Colors: Blue and Puke Yellow
Info: A sad, infected little town with little hope now that Arcadia is gone. The guards had pulled out long ago when the Kinser Dread set in, a deadly illness which can kill rapidly. Mithril is run by a few people, they mostly govern themselves. Which means they don't take to kindly to people who come in and threaten their view of how they govern. Many folks here don't mind the other races, save for the Orcs. Something about a feud long forgotten which still burns them today.
Jargon and Kaiden
(Jargon, top
Kaiden, below)
Status: Civil War....? (with each other)
Castle: Each city has a main hall...which they keep making larger trying to make it larger than the other town.
Colors: Jargon is a light Green and Amber while Kaiden is...a Dark Green and Amber.
Info: Two decent sized towns with many of the smell beliefs and races, and many more similarities, which they refuse to admit to. They even hired the same man to build many of their important buildings and other structures, who eventually have up and quit both sides. They are locked in a near bloodless civil as the only thing ig seems to be is a pissing contest and a fight about the freedoms the elves have (which Kaiden is currently winning). It's rather pointless if all they're gonna do is prank the other town, which mind you, is just on the other side of a river.
Verdian
Status: Unknown
Castle: Castle Highover
Colors: White, Purple, and Gold
Info: This is a city like no other. Cobble stone streets, beautiful gardens, and a very little crime rate. One of the richest cities in Thedas, it's what many cities want to be. But it's ruler is corrupt, exploiting his people with high taxes and unfair laws. Non-Humans have a curfew, and have to be inside before sundown. Most women can't have jobs which involve combat. The nobles flaunt their riches by hold extragant parties often. Poverty is a rampent problem, many homeless people are living in the slums and undergroud. But yes, this is and ideal city.

The Elf city of Fenwood
Status: Safe
Castle: Castle Deshovin
Colors: Unknown
Info: Deep in the Forever Forest, at the base of the mountains, is Fenwood. The first, and maybe only Elf city. Here, the elves are free, and in touch with their roots. Not much is known to the outside world, as outsiders, unless invited, are not welcome.
Orc Villages
Status: Depends on the tribes
Castle: Each tribe may or may not have a cheifs house. That serves as either a castle or temporary town hall depending on whether the tribe is nomadic.
Colors: Depends on the tribes
Info: The Orc villages soley depends on how the orcs operate. Many tribes, while following the same religion and honor code, they live very differently depending on where they settle. Some tribes may be nomadic, while others have permanent villages. Their skills often vary. Most tribes are very open with outsiders, although untrusting, letting then trade of stay if they are unable to move on. This is of course once the outsiders have been deamed okay to enter. Some tribes, don't let any but their own kin inside their villages. Relationships between tribes is unknown.
University of Saints
Status: Safe, but unliked
Castle: Castle Highover
Colors: White
Info: The only "school" for mages in Thedas. Located in Verdian, this is a school notorious among the magic community for it's shady practices. When and individual is born with magic abilities, an advisor will contact the parents. The child is taken and put into the school for years of training. How they are treated and what they learn depends on the person. Not much else is known outside the mages who have actually been to the university.
