Buying Specialities: A Query

A simple question really for both editions, where I'm just looking for the views of others:


When buying specialities at character creation, and after paying 1 bonus point for 2 specialities (for Caste or Favoured, for example), would you allow them to be placed in seperate Abilities, so long as they were both Caste or Favoured?

Yeah, they can pick a Specialty for any Favored or Caste Ability when they buy 2 for 1.

Legally, no. Reasonably, why not?

Well, the only ruling that I see in the BWB mkII is that they cost 1 BP for non-caste/favored, and 1 BP for 2 if caste/favored.


Seeing as it never says that the points must go into the same specialty, I see no reason to houserule that they must.


I seem to remember a blurb in the BWB mkI that a character could start out with no more than 3 specialties, which WW interpreted as 3 dots, whether in the same specialty or not, but that rule doesn't seem to be here in 2E.
