"...Mermen are the Male equivalents of Mermaids. In Greek mythology, Mermaids often were depicted with green seaweed hair and beard, brandishing a trident. Irish mythology had them as creatures with wildly ranging appearances from other Merfolk. Sometimes they helped people, sometimes they drowned them and ate their flesh. In other stories, Mermen were harmless and disinterested in human affairs. The famous Feejee Mermaid, was a famous object made from a the torso of a monkey and a back end of a fish which toured with P.T. Barnum from 1842 until the 1860s when it was destroyed in a fire."
"Dionysus was the Greek god of the grape harvest, winemaking, ritual madness, religious ecstasy, theatre and a fertility god to boot. In the myths, he shared the temple with Apollo at Delphi, taking residence for half of the year when Apollo wintered in Hyperborea. His symbols are the Thyrsus, a staff of giant fennel wound with ivy and dripping with honey, a leopard skin clothing piece, and a chariot drawn by Panthers. He is often associated with Satyrs, Centaurs and Sileni, as well as the Maenads who were frenzied female followers of Dionysus. He is also implied to be a part of the Eleusinian Mysteries, as well as being the head of the Dionysian mysteries, a mystery cult that flourished in Ancient Greece and Rome before the decline of Greco-Roman Polytheism."
"Tezcatlipoca was one of the four sons of Ometeotl, associated with a wide range of concepts, including the night sky, night winds, hurricanes, the north, the earth, obsidian, enmity, discord, rulership, divination, temptation, jaguars, sorcery, beauty, war and strife. His name is often translated as 'Smoking Mirror', alluding to his connection to obsidian, the material from which mirrors were used for shamanic rituals and prophecy in Mesoamerica. When depicted, Tezcatlipoca was drawn with a black and a yellow stripe across his face, his right foot replaced with an obsidian mirror or bone- alluding to a creation myth where he loses the foot battling the Earth Monster. His animal counterpart, or nagual, was the Jaguar, the deity Tepeyollotl."
