  backstory

  Since she was a young girl, expectations ran high for Saanvi. Some were placed upon her by her parents, others by herself. It was a difficult childhood. Saanvi struggled to meet these standards in her adolescence, but the older she became the more she adapted to her rigorous circumstances. She retreated into herself to put forth someone more capable.
  
  In high school, Saanvi did everything she could. AP courses, leadership positions, debate, spirit events, anything that could give her an edge. Her parents expected her to attend the best college for her profession. Saanvi had two options: law or medicine. She chose the former, as debate was one of the few activities she actually enjoyed. The child Saanvi once was always wanted to speak up for people who could not find their own voice.
  
  Saanvi attended Stanford University for her undergraduate degree in Political Science and had a taste of freedom for the first time in her life. She was invited to an off-campus party in her second week and was blackout drunk within three hours. Saanvi woke up that night in the ER with the horrid taste of beer and vomit in her mouth. She was beyond thankful that nothing led to her parent's finding out about her mistake and she swore off having fun for the remainder of her four years. She moved onto Stanford Law after graduation.
  
  Throughout these years, Saanvi experienced all of two relationships. Both with men. The first lasted a six months, the other just over a year. Saanvi cared for both of her exes, but looking back at her two relationships... neither were particularly exciting or memorable. She was too busy for long-lasting memories and too asexual for Earth shattering sex. At least that's what she thinks, anyway. Saanvi didn't know at the time, but she wasn't the problem like she thought. It took a close friend shaking her down for Saanvi to realize that men might be the real issue here. A sexuality crisis definitely wasn't on her bingo card.
  
  More important than any self-discovery, though, was the bar exam. Saanvi spent agonizing amounts preparing for the exam and spent countless nights dreaming of her complete and utter fairly. Thankfully, Saanvi eventually passed. Which brings us to where we are now.
  
  Saanvi is lawyer. Finally. She is ready to begin her career once and for all, except... she sort of made a promise to her best friend. Before she begin working, Saanvi had to take a real vacation or else she would have no help studying for her exam. Desperation had led Saanvi to agree to these terms and she had nearly forgot about the agreement entirely when her friend announced she had signed Saanvi up for a trip to Capri, Italy. Technically it wasn't a vacation-vacation, as it was a contests of sorts, but it was the only way to make things cheap. Saanvi didn't have a lawyer's salary yet, after all.

  "I didn't. My best friend did. I regrettably agreed to take a vacation before starting my career and apparently, the competition was their solution to making a vacation affordable." (They may or may not also have ulterior motives, but Saanvi is none the wiser.)

  what expectations do they have for the summer?

  "I expect my routine will be interrupted one way or another... More than that, I expect, or hope, that I will have some time to relax. Sightseeing would also be lovely, honestly. I have done little traveling aside from visits to India to visit relatives."

  do they have an ideal type?

  "Type? Someone intelligent, independent, and supportive. I haven't had the time to think about it, really, but those are the obvious traits that came to mind." (Please, please, someone humorous and adventurous. Someone who can get under her skin and bring out her inner child.)

  would they be open to a roommate?

  "I live with my best friend already, so it would not be a problem."
