If it's any consolation, those suffering from narcissistic personality disorder hardly ever have the self-awareness to reflect upon their own actions at all, much less recognize that they could ever be wrong.

But see, narcissists tend to be too self-involved to even speculate that they could be narcissistic. Cluster B personality disorders are pretty severe, and narcissism in particular is hallmarked by some pretty wild delusions.
I wouldn't rely on one friend's opinion, much less an ex-friend. But if you're worried, you could contact a professional and seek their opinion. I wouldn't recommend self-diagnosis, you'd probably benefit from a less biased source.
